Good to be able to visit the garden during peak season without crowds! This was nice, despite navigation problems.

The main challenge was using a mobility scooter, wheelchair or walker to get around. Several of the lanes did not connect to the main path, and there was no way for people who can't walk to access most of the planting areas because the beds were surrounded only by grass. Some parts of the path ended suddenly, so you had to go back the way you came. It was easy to get trapped. Assistants end up walking double the distance.

The ramped access to the path was blocked by a locked gate, even though the park was open, and the marked handicapped parking nearest the path was at the top of a hill. The steep location of the park, itself, creates a challenge for the disabled.

The paved path did encompass the entire park and the bushes from a distance were pretty, providing lots of photo opportunities. A single-person lift is located inside the main building.

This may be a lovely place to visit someday. Yes they did have a freeze this winter and the roses suffered horribly. That doesn't explain why there are so many weeds growing among the poor plants nor why nothing is deadheaded. This is sad and a not a way to teach anything about growing roses. You have the opportunity to tout the roses that made it through relatively unscathed, was it location, age of the rose, type of rose. And yes its rained a lot. Instead of dismissing that as a catastrophe explain why there are spots on the leaves, what can be done to lessen the damage. It doesn't look good now but every rose grower wants to know how to do it better. More than half of the rose name plates are gone. Get them back. Make the misfortune teaching moment.

If you want to see lots of different types of roses, this is the place to go. They are laid out in rows and rows of different types and colors. Roses love sun, so if you go on a warm day, take plenty of water, and hats or umbrellas for shade, because there are few places to rest in the shade. We were here in May and it was HOT, can't imagine it in July.

Beautiful, peaceful gardens and all for free. We visited over July 4th weekend and there were plenty of shady spots to enjoy the outdoors. We loved that there were several gardens to enjoy in addition to the roses. Nice gift shop with a delightful lady at the cash register.

We visited during a hot June day. Definitely head over there early when they first open or a time other than summer.

For fans of roses, it’s a wonderful garden. So many AARS picks, and a section for David Austin roses, a personal favorite. There are a couple of demonstration gardens and a collection of stunning Japanese maples.

Beautiful and it’s free to enter. There’s a fee for the museum portion but we didn’t check that out.

Can’t wait for a chance to go back in the fall or spring!

We visited the Rose Garden in the fall & it was lovely to see the variety of colors in all the various Japanese Maple Trees! There were some fall/winter flowers out as well during this time. I also liked the long pathway, occasional benches, & water features. Very nice area for a short seasonal stroll, but I'm not sure i could handle the outdoor heat in the summer...

We enjoyed walking the Rose gardens. The garden us huge! We decided it is a 2 day visit to see it all. We got lots of ideas.
We also visited with the Smith County Master Gardeners who were working on the garden/ park section.
We also enjoyed the Rose Museum.

Beautiful gardens with nice paths that a wheelchair can go on. Lovely place to take photos for family, graduations or weddings. It was free, with a lot of free parking. Some uphill walking.. several ponds. No Admission Fee. and free parking. all types of plants for shade and sun. There are seasons for roses.. some say fall is the best time.. we were there May 7 so the last of April would be a good time too.. a lot of the roses had bloomed already.

The weather was perfect on Sunday, although a bit on the windy side. The roses were absolutely the best I have ever seen. The flower beds and the grounds were pristine clean. It was our 50th anniversary and we enjoyed seeing all of the flowers. The Idea Garden is amazing and maintained by the Smith County Master Gardeners. If you are near Tyler in the late part of October or early November you must see the Tyler Rose Garden. So worth the visit.

This garden was big! It took one hour to walk around. However, I visited the worst season which was summer. Most of the roses were dead. And the 2021 snow devasted the garden. I heard that October would be the best season!
