Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds--

For rehabilitated sea turtle and hatchling release text message notifications, please see our website membership page. See you at Sea Turtle, Inc.!

Pretty interesting learning about sea turtle conservation. Staff was nice and answered every question. You can't touch or feed them but only so they don't get used to people and can be returned to the ocean

We arrived here on a Thursday morning at the same time as a school field trip full of kids. I'm not sure who was more excited to see the sea turtles swimming around (it might have been me). The volunteers at the center did an excellent job of answering questions from why the turtles were rescued, how they'd crafted a... More

Lecture was very educational. Got to see turtles being rehabilitated before their return to the water. Some turtles like Allison will not be able to return to the wild due to permanent injuries.

We love visiting this place each year. We have donated to the facility many times and love learning about all the turtles they rescue. An awesome experience for all ages for sure!

Every time we visit SPI, we stop here to check in on the residents, buy a couple of t shirts, and adopt a hatchling. These people do such important work. Please visit and make a donation

This is a Sea Turtle Hospital. We got great close ups with the turtles and staff was very well informed. My kids got to learn the effects of pollution on Sea Animals, Poachers. Definitely, an educational add-on to your beach getaway!

This little turtle hospital shares a unique experience and learning opportunity for the mildly interested tourist- leaving much more concerned and intrigued about turtles. Fascinating.

Small facility but runs off of donations. They release about 90% of the turtles brought in. Some have deformities or injured by other sea life. They will be building a larger facility soon but need the donations and the clientele to visit. If in the area, check it out.
