Ila Loetscher, the "Turtle Lady of South Padre Island", originally formed our organization to save the Kemp's ridley sea turtle in 1977. Now we are a sea turtle hospital with a mission to rehabilitate and release any injured sea turtles, increase awareness concerning their safety and habitat, and assist with conservation efforts for all sea turtle species. We are funded by donations, grants and gift shop proceeds--

We visited SPI with the grandchildren and family and planned a visit to Sea Turtle, Inc. The experience was educational for all ages. The children ages 2 to 7 years loved learning about the turtles or just watching them in their tanks. The staff are knowledgeable and eager to share with the visitors. While it is free to the public,... More

Stopped in on our way out of SPI and spent an hour wandering around the facility and seeing all the turtles and tanks! Very interesting stories about the rescued turtles. This place is a for real service for turtles- they spend their donations on actually helping rather than a bunch of frills to attract and entertain tourists.

I enjoyed visiting the Sea Turtle Inc - a rescue rehabilitation center for Sea Turtles. It was sad to learn about some of the conditions they find turtles in and that some won't be released but it was uplifting that they had a place to be cared for and some were actually near being released. It's a small place and... More

It was very important to know the devastation that thrash causes on seas harming the sea animal. We got to see several injur turtles due to thras lefted in the sea. It was a great experience, we really liked it!

These guys rely on donations. We paid more than the recommended 4.00 per adult 2.00 per kid. Their work is important in the lives of these sea turtles...and YES they can live to be 100years old!
