Quick Stop

This a quite a mural of various whales adjacent to the SPI convention center. Very detailed. A plaque in front of the creation explains the artist, etc. About a 15-minute stop.

We enjoy this each time we come to birdwatch along the Laguna Madre Nature Trail. The individual who repainted it did an excellent job.

Although I found the wall to be interesting, we walked from the birding center, and it wasn't worth the walk.

Nice painting on a building. Paved half circle drive. Free. Located to the side of the convention center. Killer whales aren't seen in this area, but pretty neat scene just the same.

Very worth taking the time to stop and look at before you walk the board walk out to the Laguna Madre where youn can see all sorts of wonderful birds and sea creatures in the shallow waters.

Beautiful art imitating real life. The colors and detail was amazing. The sea creatures were to scale and very realist.

To see the Whaling Wall is easy and quick, but to fully understand what you are seeing, go the the Website and learn about why the wall is there and where all 100 are located.

Wyland's collection of wonderful walls. Love his work. Looking at the walls at South Padre Island is like being in an art museum. You can't help but stand and watch every detail of the whales and the sea turtles and all sea lWatching the walls are so real it's mezmerizing like staring into an aquarium and watching the whales swim.... Nice paintings on the side of the convention hall. Not sure I get the killer whales since they are not from the Gulf. But pretty none the less.

I was told to go to the end of the island and look at the convention center where the Wyland Whale wall is. This is one of 100 life size murals in the world to expand appreciation of aquatic wildlife. The wall is stunning and a must see!
