Another of our spur of the moment trips. This is a beautiful park, the drive around the park is nice. Roads appear to be pretty new. Didn’t have a lot of time to explore, but is on our list to come back to.

This was the only park with availabilty that we found closest to San Antonio. Since it was mid week it wasn't filled with kids. So quiet. Hard top parking pads. Nice CCC hiking trail with a bridge built by them.Had to detour from main entrance...More

Park is very clean and it is a good base to explore surrounding area. (Smithville - 5 minutes, Bastrop -10 minutes, Austin - 5 minutes). It still has plenty of trees as it was not affected as much as Bastrop was with fires 7 years...More

The park is really beautiful. Cute cabins. Nice little fishing lake for kids. Canoe rental. Nice bike paths.not crowded.

Buescher is smaller most Texas State Parks but has many opportunities for outdoor enjoyment. Great for biking with only slight elevation changes and is shady through most of the roads. For trail bikes, there are nice ones shared as hiking trails. Small lake has fishing...More

Both of those areas are available for use. We just left and camped in the oakhaven section of the park.

Sorry but they do not allow pets in any of the state park buildings, that includes shelters, restrooms, cabines, office, etc.
