We were in Port Isabel on a rainy day so we weren't able to climb the lighthouse. The staff at the Visitors' Center could not have been friendlier or more helpful! They explained why we couldn't go into the lighthouse but encouraged us to read the history of the lighthouse that was displayed in the Center. They explained where the... More

We visited this historic lighthouse when we were in Port Isabel. Of the 16 lighthouses originally constructed along the Texas coast, Port Isabel is the only one open to the public. The Port Isabel Historic Museum, the Treasures of the Gulf Museum, and the 1852 Port Isabel Lighthouse are monuments to our rich past. You can enjoy great views of... More

It was neat to see, but we paid more than we would have like to walk up a few flights of stairs only to reach suffocating heat at the top. We could only stay at the top for a minute or so because of how unbelievably hot it was.

We enjoyed it, it's a beautiful place, but it cost 9 dollars to climb 75 stairs to the top and the balcony was broken.. but it is definitely a must see for anyone driving thru..Beautiful and the lady was so nice and informative

I highly recommend going on a cloudy day because the climb can get very hot. Portions of the stairs are much steeper than expected. Bring cash for the tickets.

Impressive place. Everyone but me climbed to the top for a really cool view. The stairs a small and spiraled with some going straight up the wall so not everyone can handle the climb up, I stayed down but everyone else loved it.

We enjoyed our climb to the top of the lighthouse. Our problem was the same we had most of our vacation is we needed cash to buy the tickets. You can make you way to the carriage house and pay there but most of the people like ourselves until we climbed our first set of stairs.

Great views. Great place to get a little history in for the kids. If you're headed to South Padre, stop here really quick. You will not regret it.

Beautiful view. Took my daughters to the top and took very pretty pictures. You do have to climb a few stairs.

The view is beautiful and wasn't a bad climb. I would recommend going on cooler days but it was worth going and seeing.
