I was unable go at the time of a performance. It was still fun to step inside and feel the energy of all those who have played there and those who have enjoyed the music!

Gruene is a top 3 town in the Midwest for me. I feel like I'm walking in a movie set. I have been twice now and would like to go for a third time again this year. My favorite evenings here are when the crowd...More

Oldest dance hall in Texas, always someone big scheduled to perform. Can't beat the atmosphere in this place, even if you're just dropping in for a beer.

A cynical friend often says, authenticity is everything, fake that and you have it made. With Gruene Hall it is authentic, can't be faked and it a fabulous venue for music and as a dance hall. Had a glorious time here. Old school, old time,...More

The place is an icon, full of Texas charm inside and out. $5 cover for Two Ton of Steel first ever thanksgiving Tuesday. They’ve apparently been doing Tuesday shows at Gruene Hall for 24 years. Great music. Nice mix of old and young crowd, swing...More

No hype, no commercialized foof, just good ol' down home digs with a great bar and lots of open space to enjoy PHENOMENAL live music! Easy access, gets crowded though, but worth it 😀😀😀

Think local saloon if you’re coming to Gruen Hall. Also, be aware that sometimes they will have sold out concerts booked, and you can’t get in. But otherwise, a huge dance floor and full bar. Great souvenir and antiques shopping across the street.

Get here as quick as you can. Oldest continuesly operating dance hall in Texas. Great music everyday, all the beer you can drink, dancing on the old wooden planks, and friendly folks all around. What's not to love. We saw Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder....More

Austin is quite far away for what you are thinking. We stayed at the Best Western in New Branfuls, a 10 minute drive, after the show. Good travel's to you!!

Weather should be ok. It can get cold here in January, but usually it’s rather pleasant, Gruene Hall is heated just no a/c. So just check the weather a day or so ahead of time, weather shouldn’t be a reason not to go.
