- Susan S44 contributionsGreat dayRelatively straightforward getting into the park, short walk to the first ride through a group of buildings, loads of great Halloween decorations. Q's for most of the big rollercoaster between 20/40 mins, some of the smaller rides were straight on. Nearly all food places were closed and we ended up at La Cantina, great food with a show but 64 euro for 3 of us 😲 it was three courses with a big juice in a cup to take home but still, ooft. Some of the smaller rides and shows were also closed. We were there from open to close and didn't make it round everything so I think we'd get two day passes next time. The photo package for the pics from the ride is quite good. The Halloween parade at the end of the day was great. Overall a great day.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 16 October 2023
- ThemeParkFoodieLondon, United Kingdom15 contributionsPotential to be one of the best theme parks in the WorldPortAventura has the potential to be one of the best theme parks in the World. There are many, many positives and indeed, some areas for improvement. The positives first. The theming of the Wild West, Sesame Street area and Polynesia are outstanding. A truly immersive experience and on par in many ways with the big Disney parks. Other positives: the coasters. Dragon Khan still holds up as one of the best coasters in the World. A true B&M classic. It could do with more theming, especially in the queue area, but overall a great ride. The new addition of Uncharted is a MUCH needed dark ride in the park. Stampida still holds up and has a nostalgia that makes it a pleasure to ride. You have to expect a rickety ride on an older wooden coaster and that is one of the many positives about it. Finally, Angkor. A fantastic ride with beautiful theming. A great family experience. Onto the main areas of improvement. Firstly, staffing. It does feel a little understaffed in certain areas and at times operations can be a little slow. There's no excuse for running one train on the big 2 coasters in China. On that topic, the theming in China (except the splashdown zone) feels a little lackluster. The area is great but could do with another flat / dark ride and more investment in theming. Also, certain rides, which are great, have been left a little to deteriorate. The Tutiki Splash is excellent (especially at night with real bats!) but needs a lick of paint. Bring back the red bubbling volcano! Please PortAventuta! All in all, an amazing theme park. It would be interesting to see if Universal enter the equation again as I feel they could bring that little TLC and update that would bring PortAventura up to the big leagues of theme parks around the World. We appreciate your feedback and patience as we work on these improvements. Our goal is to provide an exceptional experience to each of our customers, and your feedback is invaluable in achieving this. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future and offer you an improved and more rewarding experience. - grace c1 contributiondia de los muertos is too scaryi am currently in salou for a trip with my family and the “dia de los muertos” theme is on. in the evening time until closing the park has live actors who jump and scare you, it’s torture especially with young children and people who jump easily, would not recommend if you are easily scared or have kids who will get scared. other than that the park is amazing and i would definitely recommend it other than the halloween themeVisited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 October 2023
- Henry Charles-LeonidasLondon, United Kingdom3 contributionsPortAventura reviewThis theme park is amazing. Me and my family have been here before and it was just as fabulous as we remembered. There is such a brilliant variety of rides for both thrill-seekers and youngsters. If you visit this park, you must ride Shambhala! This is my favourite rollercoaster I’ve ever ridden. Not far behind is the new arrival to the park, Uncharted. In my opinion, this park is a really good value for money and even has amazing food! We will definitely be back, PortAventura. - CarolinaPortugal9 contributionsNice to spend time with brave peopleThe park is pretty interesting if you are interested in rollercoasters and brave enough to face the crazier ones. If you don’t really like them, it’ll probably be a bit boring, since they are all over the place. I’d think twice before taking little kids there. I didn’t go to Ferrari Land because it was closed, just like lots of restaurants, which I personally didn’t like. Still had a good time there though. We appreciate the time you have taken to give us your views.Written 7 March 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 16 February 2024
- Lo78Liverpool, United Kingdom9 contributionsGreat couple of daysCame here and paid for 2 days 2 park tickets. We did a full day at Portaventura 10-6 both days as park is huge and found we needed both days to get everything done. We had an amazing time and didn’t feel the need to buy any fast pass tickets as we never really queued for anything longer than 30mins. Until we went the second day an went straight to unchartered time said 1hr 20 an it was well over 2hrs the queue went on forever an altho it is a good ride I wouldn’t have queued that long for it. That’s the only ride we had a queue on. Luckily on the second day my mum followed us on with the younger kids and met us at 2pm x rides are really good for little ones but they are really strict with height requirements and sone I found the height quite high compared to what the ride is but obviously it’s for safety reasons so that was fine. We went and seen the magic bubble show which is on for about 15/20mins an is quite a cute little show little ones really liked it. There was no train or boat running which was a shame. Food was a decent price with kids meals being I think 6/7 euros if not a little bit more it came to 31 euros for 1 adult meal, 1 child’s meal fries drinks an one of the drinks was Portaventura metal drinks bottle so overall I thought that was reasonable considering being in a park. The second day we went to Ferrari land which didn’t open till 4pm-10pm. You literally only need an hour or two here depending on queues as there’s not much at all. Mainly kiddies rides an then of course red force which we waited over an hour for my daughter to go on a she loved every minute. Overall we had two really good days here. The water park wasn’t open during our visit as out of season.¡Thank you for your kind words! We are glad to know that you enjoyed [mention the specific aspect]. We always strive to offer the best possible experience, and your support means a lot to us. - CC2 contributionsGreat day outI don’t often write reviews but feel that we have had a very different experience to many on here. We went yesterday, Friday 24 May, and had a great day - myself and two children aged 12 and 10. I bought three of the express pass 10 and although it was busy there was barely any queueing with these passes. There were lots of Spanish schoolchildren on a day out but we saw only a handful queue jump - no more than I’ve seen at Alton Towers or Chessington. As I am a single parent I bought myself an express pass too, even though I knew I wouldn’t be going on any of the scary rides as I was not sure how it would work with getting my children on the rides with their express pass. I didn’t need to and would say save your money if you’ve no intention of riding. I just scanned the passes on my phone with the attendant at the start of each ride and then walked back to meet them by the photo booths at the end of each ride. We got into the park at 1030 and by 1130 they had done 4 of the biggest rollercoasters. If you are only visiting for the day I think the passes are worth the extra cost. By the end of the day my children had been on every ride they wanted to go on, apart from Uncharted. The passes get you on most big rides - but not Uncharted which had a big wait and eventually shut due to a tech issue. My only negative is the lack of staff around. Bar those manning the rides (and on some of the smaller rides there is only one person doing everything) we didn’t seen anyone around the park. All in all it was very positive for us and a great day out 👍🏻Thank you for your review! I would advise buying your ticket online. We were going to buy tickets at the gate but were quoted 68euro each so I downloaded PortAventura's app and paid 52 euros .Thank you for your review! - Helena J3 contributionsAn unexpectedly brilliant theme parkWe had no real expectations for our time at portaventura theme park but honestly we were blown away!! We had the best time so much so that when we realised we had a 3 day ticket as part of our jet2 experience more booking we went multiple times. We are a family of four with a 2 year old and a 5 year old. There were so many rides they could both go on and we could do as a family. The street mission from Sesame Street was amazing!! There’s so many shops and restaurants and the details in each area are just fab. We loved the magic bubble show and the aloha show with interactive bits for the kids. Wish we’d fitted in the western stunt show. Not all shows are on, on all days so get the app and check ahead. We stayed for the parade at 6pm one the last day and that was fantastic our little ones loved it! It was busy with school groups when we went but the park is so massive that it soon feels quieter, especially as with little ones we weren’t fussed about queueing for hours for the big rides. We could get a 10min taxi from our hotel to the park or just walk back which took only 30mins. We loved it and would happily go back again any day.¡We love knowing that you enjoy the park every time you visit it! ¡ We hope to see you many more times to continue sharing spectacular moments with you!Written 10 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 June 2024
- CelesteStar20Northamptonshire, United Kingdom65 contributionsRude aggressive people pushing in.I love this park I’ve been 5/6 times and have enjoyed it. However this year the pushing in spoilt the trip. So many school trips and some very aggressive and rude children who shoved past us. One man threatened me if I didn’t let him pass, 10 people had already pushed past because they have friends up ahead or gone to the toilet, total rubbish. One of the school trips, the teacher encouraged 20 children to climb over the single rider line and pushed in. The majority of people who were pushing in were quite aggressive and very rude. After speaking to a few English visitors who echoed the same, I will probably give a miss for a couple of years. Portadventura need to address this situation. They probably don’t care once people in they have your ££. A real shame. Queues were long and rides broke down quite a bit this time.We apologize for the inconvenience caused and hope to be able to provide you with better service in the future. Thank you.Written 10 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 June 2024

My partner and I visited on 21st June, arriving at around 10:30. I have been to several large theme parks in Europe and have never experienced anything like this.
The entrance was not clearly signposted & crowded to the point that it was scary and unsafe. It took an hour to get in & it was just as bad inside. I would be very surprised if nobody was injured in the process.
The lines for the rides were unorderly and we avoided most due to fear of safety. There were teenagers jumping over barriers and pushing past people in order to get on faster. The only way to get on any that are even slightly worth the price point would be to purchase an express pass & still wait up to 1.5 hours. The three rides we actually managed to get on were fun but not worth the price point.
The water fountains were broken and the queues in order to get refreshments were long with many restaurants not even opening until 1pm. The standard of food / drinks was what you would expect from a theme park.
The app has a terrible interface & is very hard to understand, even for someone who uses technology every day for work. Using the app on 2 phones and the maps located around the park, it still took around 45-60 minutes to locate the exit for the park - nearly missing our transport home.
If you are in Barcelona and would like to travel somewhere for a day, I would recommend to steer clear of wasting your time here and go somewhere like Montserrat, which was a similar price but much better value for money.

Was there round about opening time (10.30am) on a Tuesday as we thought it would be less busy than at the weekend.
Quick service getting into the park but the queues for the rides were ridiculous. By 1 o’clock we had been on one small ride and queued for the rest.
I’d recommend you buy queue jumper wrist bands to get through and on rides quickly but obviously that comes at an extra cost.
Ensure you have plenty refreshments and sun screen to prepare for standing in the queues.

the rides are good, however the waiting times aren't worth it. The signs around the park never gave an accurate waiting time for rides, all rides were over a 2h wait!
We went for 2 days and on our 2nd day we made it on 4 rides after being in the park for 8hours. So many school trips were on during our visit and the teenagers all cut in line (if staff noticed this, then they would turn around and not say anything). Smoking in lines as well as shoving. Fast track would fill up every cart, I understand they get priority but sometimes you'd be waiting around 15 minutes just to see the normal line move slightly. Rides constantly breaking down. It was just really disappointing, and when you're paying a lot of money for the tickets it's even more annoying.

Over priced, extremely poor customer service, restaurants massively overpriced, huge queues, staff rude and unhelpful, rides constantly breaking down. Well that about covers it. Value for money….NO. Would we go again NO.
Ours was a long awaited family holiday, as for most folks I suppose, we stayed at the Porta Ventura Hotel so had direct park access. Again the staff at the hotel seemed to have the same bullish, abrupt attitude as the park staff.
The hotel again massive queues for breakfast, then when you do finally get in to the restaurant it’s like a stampede to the food, and you are constantly told by staff to hurry up, it seems you were given 15 mins to get your food and eat it, taking into account all the buffet area has queues ! The food quality was average to poor, the buffet areas run out of food constantly and you have to chase staff to replenish things, and you get back to your table and have a staff member telling you you have been there too long.
I can honestly say, this is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, if if you go to complain good luck with finding a manager, there seems to be no one in charge, that applies to both park and hotel….it’s really bizarre?
During our stay one of the Porta Ventura staff made inappropriate comments to my daughters and when I asked him to get his manager he told me to “F off”, in front of my family. Absolutely fuming, and when I eventually found a manager was told to write in to complain.
It is very clear that the park is poorly managed, there is little process to support the employees and they seem to make it up as they go. It troubles me if there was a serious incident just how they would cope and manage it. In our case it took an hour to get to speak to a supervisor and was told the manager was not available.
I wonder if their children were verbally abused as ours were they would be happy with the process.

I used to go to Port Aventura when it opened years ago and i was shocked by the queues today. People who pay 43 euros to jump the queues go first so you end up waiting for an hour and a half/ even two hours just to get on a ride. It really isn't worth it unless you are prepared to spend a small fortune. As a family of five this wasn't an option for us. Also most of the shows were cancelled, no fireworks... if you want to take food in you gave to hide it in your bag. My children were disgusted to see people jumping the queue. Also there is supposedly a pandemic on, in the queues absolutely no social distancing, they certainly haven't reduced admission capacity. You will be harrassed constantly to wear your mask , even for six year old children. It used to be a nice place, now it is overcrowded and money grabbing. A shame.

A complete and utter shambles of a park. I would have given 0/5 if possible. A number of the rides are closed which inevitably means the ones that are open have huge queues.
Some of the rides take 1.5hrs to get on them unless you have the express pass.
Many of the rides that are open only have 1 member of staff operating them. This means that it takes significantly longer for each ride and again adds to the queues.
The staff do look miserable however I cant blame them given the pressure they are under doing it all themselves.
The food is completely overpriced and of a very low standard.
Given the cost to get into the park is over €200 for a family 5 you would expect some type of experience. But unless you fork out another €30 each to use the express it is a waste of time.
Avoid at all costs

This was our first ever visit to this park. Overall the park is lovely, the theming of the separate areas is brilliant. Very clean park. One downside is that there seems to be a lot of people smoking outside of the designated smoking areas, even sometimes within the ride queues.
Large variety of great rides for all ages. Luckily as we visited in the week the queues were non-existent. The only considerable queue was when Furious Baco broke down for a bit.
Unfortunately we witnessed a lot of queue jumping, which doesn’t seem to be monitored.
The park offers a wide range of food, with loads of different outlets. Unfortunately the park states online that it offers suitable options for gluten free visitors, although we found this to be untrue at the restaurant areas that we visited. At La Cantina the staff didn’t speak much English therefore ordering gluten free food was hard. We managed to order 2 portions of nachos and when they arrived, despite the images on the boards, we simply received 2 bowls of plain Doritos, with 2 small bowls of guacamole. We were hugely disappointed with this, and the price - €9.90! If we’d have known beforehand, we simply could have bough 2 packets of Doritos from the shop next door for under half the price. Due to the language barrier we felt that we could not complain, as staff probably wouldn’t understand.
Other than the gluten free food issues, this is a great park, definitely worth visiting!

The highlight has been the line up of the rides.
Vibrant atmosphere. Easy access to the park from the onsite hotel. No queue to get into the park. Wednesday and Thursday we're quiet days with shorter queue times for the rides but became longer, as expected, at the weekend especially on Sunday.
Average theme park food but really expensive. Bottle of water cost €4. With the Spanish heat keeping hydrated was expensive.
Good selection of merchandise to purchase in the shops
Only negative was the compulsory mask wearing which was really unpleasant in the heat . Security were really strict regarding this.

This was our second visit to this park, very little has changed in the 4 year gap, massive queues for the "big" thrill rides, which as expected forces people to buy fast pass tickets ,couple that with quite short opening hours and you would be lucky to ride many of the big rides unless you're willing to pay for an express ticket.
Stampidia the big coaster in the far west broke down while we one of our party was on it, would have expected a free return pass but we didnt get anything.
The queues for the smaller rides were fine, less than 30 mins and some rides you could get on straight away depending on time of day (opening, lunch and end of the day) , park was decorated for Halloween and they really go to town, with decorations and performers and some shows.
Snack and drink service was very slow, this seemed to be a mix of lack of staff and language barriers, most of the staff were Spanish and spoke good English but seemed to struggle with the French guests. The park offers refillable drinks but getting them refilled isnt worth the time and effort.
The park also has an issue with queue jumping, either people just pushing past other people or jumping over barriers to skip the queue.
The single most problematic thing we encountered was working out the lay out of the park, the map on the app was useless, the paper map was better but its very easy to get lost , it took two days to find to find two rides we hadnt ridden before and we had to return on the third day because they had closed by the time we had found them.
The park had various Halloween performers wondering around the park, some of these (killer clown) are quite scary , some less so, they tend to frighten adults/Teens and will leave you alone if you ask them to, they tend to avoid younger children, they are mostly found in Mexico and the Far west areas, though I spot a Wizard in China.
The parks have quite a large amount of seating which is something Disney could learn from, been able to grab a drink and sit down was very much apricated after walking around for several hours, It may be a culture difference as Americans seem very okay with walking while eating and drinking where as in Europe we like to sit.
The rides were on the whole okay, some are very basic and a bit Meh, Some are classics like the Carousel, Buffalo Dodgems, Spinning barrels etc , but its clear that some of these rides are way past it and could use an upgrade or two, A new ride was being built in the Far west , but other areas such as Mederterania are looking very tired and the lake are is just flat green water and a complete let down, which is not great considering it contains the main entrance for the park and one of the hotel entrances.

We got our tickets/voucher as part of our holiday which gives us access to the 2 parks plus water park.
We have only visited portaventura world so far.
We managed 7 rides in about 8 hours 2 of those being the tea cups and pirate ship as there was no queue .
I enjoyed the 2 fast ones we went on Furious beko which was amazing and dragon khan.
The queues were long but that’s the same at any theme park. How ever it was extremely hot. They could invest in water mist sprayers along some walk ways or better fans. I visited Florida in hotter temp and didn’t feel so hot.
We had a good experience but won’t be visiting Ferrari land as it’s to hot to queue out side for so long.
Food very expensive.
We walked to their from out hotel and taxied back.
Please note a 2mile taxi ride costs about €12.
There is no clear indication of buses or where the little train stops or picks up. I feels very much like no body wants to help when you ask them.

Bonjour,

¿O mejor evitarlas?.
Gracias.
