The Maison van Gogh is essentially an emotional space. It does not promise razzle dazzle or activity. It promises quiet and solitude and a chance to reflect on the life, work and sad ending of arguably the most popular artist in the history of the...More

A must-see for fans of Van Gogh or others who appreciate the impressionist painters. Other wise you're just looking at a small barren attic room. Don't miss the film/slide show presentation in the adjacent room. Plan no more than 30 minutes. Restaurant downstairs looks nice,...More

Highly recommended for Van Gogh fan otherwise skip it. The slide show layouts details of his life and it is repeated by the tour guide. You are not allowed to photograph the room. It is better to walk around the town which has signs showing...More

Lots of reviews here... the role the Auberge had in Van Gogh's life is important but relatively small. Take the time to tour the entire village to see the Church, the doctor's house, the narrow streets and his burial spot. Then, see some of the...More

This is uniquely intimate visit to the room as it was when Van Gogh lived in it. Because of his suicide, the small furnishings were burnt and the room never occupied again. There is another room next door which is furnished in a re-creation of...More

They show you the room (empty except a chair) where he died and then a short slide show by the Van Gogh Institute. The interesting part is they show a photograph alongside one of his paintings.

I'm a total lover of van Gogh so this was an absolutely awesome experience for me; it was really something i had to do. The room itself is tiny 7m square and honestly you can see why he was in despair if this was his...More
