Although not as dramatically beautiful as places like Kaysersberg or Eguisheim, Ammerschwihr is a typically pretty Alsace village with beautiful houses bedecked with flowers. It wouldn’t make my list of must see locations, but if you are in the area it’s worth a short stroll

Ammerschwihr is a very pretty little town with beatyfull sceneries on the mountains.
Very nice houses with lots of flowers and plants.
We visit this place every year during our atumn holiday.
But also in spring-and summer time it's a pleasure to walk around.
There are 40 Kaeferkopf wineries and every year we buy our Elsas wine in one of the wineries.

There is not a lot here, just a couple of bakers, eateries and wine caves. but it's a lovely village to wander around without crowds and there are plenty of gites etc. to rent. We happened to be ther last weekend in April when they have a wine festival. Great night, good food, wine and music.

Had tasted some delicious wine one evening in Kaysersberg at Restaurant Winstub du Chateau and then were told the owner of the vineyard whose win we were sipping was in dining. He had no English, we no French, but we were asked to come and visit him the next day at 16:00 which we did.
He was rightly proud of his establishment (Felix Eppelle & Fils) and we bought 3 Riesling and 3 Bottles of Cremant. They were best we had tasted in Alsace so do visit.
They do wine tasting and also food but think that is just a specific day at the weekend. However, you can call first to confirm and book 03 89471682 or 03 89471471. He was a very lovely and gracious man.

We walked round in the evening and found lots to interest. The church is well worth looking into and there are pretty back streets full of wine producers' cave. We dined here. There is ample choice and price range of eateries. We came back next morning and bought our wine direct from the producer who took us on a tour of the cellars.

Wjat a wonderful, village, vinyards everywhere, Gewurztraminer wine is the soeciality, charming and gracious villagers! Memories of World War II in ruins! We were there in June 2015. Your travel date choices do not allow us to give you correct dates, but our experiences are invaluable for travelers! Rent a car and drive if you can from Paris or Frankfort! If you do a tour, myou lose the opportunity to really enjoy what a French village is all about, because you are rushed through!

It's on a house in the Porte Haute. I would have given you the link but stupid TripAdvisor does not allow external links
