The beach is right outside the St Regis hotel, though it’s your typical st regis. The beach itself is pretty, clean and only as crowded as the hotel is full. Calm waters prevailed while we were there but after a storm it could be filled with small waves. It was easy enough to bring a towel and chair and relax for the afternoon just down the beach h from the lounge chairs and beachside service of the hotel.

Great quiet local beach. Not sure it will stay that way after the new hotel is finished but we have spent 2 summers on Bermuda and this is our favorite place to escape the troubles of the world. Bring food & water because there’s not much around.

This was our 2nd Norwegian Cruise to Bermuda and we took the ferry provided by NCL to St. George. We had read about this beach and the small one around the corner- last trip we went to Tobacco Bay. We hired a taxi in the town square, $6 ride, very reasonable since while walk able, we didn't feel like it. (Plus our driver came back when we asked as well..) We were amazed that we would have the beach all to ourselves... stunning clear water, clean sand... there is beach glass toward the empty deserted concrete pier, but it is a bit rocky. I always bring my aqua shoes and they paid off. There are NO facilities here- have seen pictures from the past, and there was something here- not anymore. As mentioned, when we were leaving we asked our driver what the construction was on the other side of the road. Sadly, they are building a large resort complex, and doing some research I found the website. A HUGE undertaking with a hotel, residences etc. This beach will eventually disappear as part of the hotel... visit while you can.
The fort was also interesting to visit. As well as another tiny beach below it. A definite recommend...

We were tourists, so there maybe better ways to access the beach and fort. What we did was arrive on the ferry from the Royal Dockyard. Next to the ferry landing was a Unesco world heritage site where we bought admission to Fort Catherine and round trip transportation. It was an easy and short ride. The beach was clean and calm when we were there. The waves from passing boats and ferries gave children a chance to jump in the waves. We snorkeled around the rocks close to the beach and saw many varieties of fish. There was a man with a metal detector combing the beach, but I later read that it was illegal to use in Bermuda.

As in the title this is my wife's favourite beach in the whole of Bermuda for many reasons.
The first is the ride there on a scooter if you go through St Georges and take the road up the hill (ignoring sign for beaches)keep straight on past the cut where the ferries come in and there are superb views out to sea. Then when you get close enough to the beach you can see Fort St Catherine up on the hill with the beach below fantastic.
On getting to the beach the sand is lovely beneath your feet and when you enter the water it's like getting into your bath it is so warm and calm.
We spent many a day here and it was never that busy.
Saw people snorkelling around rocks by the fort so bring your gear if your into that.
Wish we were back there now hopefully next year we will be

Just want to share a very old and sad memory dating back to 1966. While visiting Bda while on the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba.
Two shipmates went to this small beach and decided to swim out to a buoy beyond the cove area. It didn't look too far. As they swam beyond the relative safety of the cove the lateral ocean currents along the island became strong and swept them away. One of them was never seen again. We searched with small boats and Navy helicopters from Kendall Air Force Base on Bermuda.
Very difficult to search the waters off the coast of Bermuda with boats because much of its coast is protected by shallow reefs.

The 2nd man, as the current took him, managed to grab onto the anchor chain of a Navy ship which was anchored a mile or so offshore. He held on for hours until a Navy crewman finally spotted him and he was lifted aboard.

Very tragic story from long ago but please be careful.

When we were done touring Fort St. Catherine we headed down to the beaches for some swimming and snorkeling. On the one side of the fort is Achilles Bay Beach. That has more people and a bar that you can go to for drinks. If you are looking for a quieter, more empty beach, head over to St. Catherine's Beach.

There are no facilities at St. Catherine's Beach. No food, no bar, just a make-shift changing room. There were two women sun bathing so far away from us that they couldn't hear us if we screamed to them. Other than that, it was just us on the beach. I absolutely loved how empty this beach was and it had decent snorkeling to boot!

Please be aware, some of the pictures posted on this site for St. Catherine's Beach are actually of neighboring Achilles Bay Beach. As I said above, there are NO facilities, chairs to rent, food/drinks, etc... at this beach.

this beach was EMPTY!!!!!!!! no one was here while Horseshoe was packed... it was beautiful and excellent snorkeling and some sea life to see! but it is unguarded and there is trash around AND a ton of sea-glass, which is good and bad. Its not really sharp but is hazardous sometimes, it can be collected to make jewelry. Sadly finding seaglass is a reminder that trash had been dumped in this location for years, and on a nearby pier was a mess of abandoned furniture and junk :( why wont they clean this up? There were no concessions there when we were present...

After touring the fort, we walked down to this beautiful beach, and never wanted to leave! Soft golden sand, gentle waves and crystal blue water. Picturesque fort to one side and palm trees at the edge..made for memorable photos. The best part was we were the only 2 people on the beach. Such a nice change of pace from crowded tobacco bay and horseshoe. A true hidden gem in Bermuda.

You won't find a lot of tourists here since most of them will be on the south shore. Fort St Catherine's is right on the beach. Historical note: this was the first landing site in Bermuda. The waters are calm and there is a bar right on the beach. Note: it is a 25-30 minute walk from the town of St Georges and a five-minute one from Tobacco Bay. A lot of tourists take a taxi to get there.
