- Nancy MMcKinney, Texas272 contributionsFabulous! Well kept, lots of history, knowledgeable tour guide. We made reservations and went for tea and then the tour. The ladies there are fabulous, accommodating, and extremely knowledgeable. The tea was good - salad, scone, dessert. The tour was very interesting and I learned and saw some things I hadn't when touring other historic homes. It's well kept. There are spaces being used for storage that it would have been nice to see as they were back then.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 October 2023

Our guide was very knowledgeable and brought the family to life in our tour. Following the tour, we were able to visit and have tea and desserts. The gardens are lovely (great space for a party or wedding) and the Carriage House is a great space for meetings and get-togethers.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 April 2024
- Cindy SOxford, Michigan38 contributionsBest Historic Home TourThis was the highlight of my visit to McKinney. The house is truly going back in time to the early 1900's. BEAUTIFULLY restored house, gardens, surronding grounds. The stain glass windows are so incredible. Many beautiful artworks, period clothing, and all original furnishings. Such an interesting story about the Heard-Craig family. I enjoy touring old homes, but this tour was one of the best.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 22 April 2024

My future mother in law hosted a bridal shower for me at the Heard Craig this past weekend. It is an absolutely beautiful art museum and bridal shower venue. The staff on site during the event were very knowledgeable about the history of the home. I loved the private tea they held for us in the main museum, and all of the intricate woodwork and stained glass windows in the home! The Heard Craig is perfect for small gatherings and learning about the history of McKinney!

The Center was showing a special exhibit of decorated Ukrainian Easter Eggs. The exhibit was wonderful! The level of craftsmanship was exquisite and there were detailed descriptions of how the eggs were decorated. The staff was very welcoming and helpful in showing the exhibit. The garden flowers were in bloom and were beautiful. Highly recommend a visit to the Center when visiting McKinney.

I attended a wedding shower for a friend there this weekend and had the best time. Great set up for meetings/parties, and the set up was perfect. Learning about the history of the gorgeous house and the art was an added bonus; definitely coming back for a full tour!

I have been to this house for a tour twice now - once for the Holiday Tea and once just to take my mom on recent outing to McKinney for lunch and shopping. It was just as pretty and enjoyable the second time around, and my mom really enjoyed it. How fortunate McKinney is to have had such generous benefactors as the Heards. They do a great job caring for their treasure! Highly recommend!

The Heard Craig Center for the Arts is an amazing place to visit. Call ahead and book a tour. You wont be dissapointed with the intricate woodworking and the antiques! This is also a great place for photographs, but you need to schedule it with them, be respectful of the house and gardens. You know it is expensive to maintain such a magical place, and they are a non-profit, so they need your help to keep it nice.

This hall was very nice for a wedding reception. The rooms is very austere but canbe decorated and livened up. The lighting is not great for photos. The raised stage is nice for dancing but steep stairs make for unsure footing if drinks have been served.
I know the wedding I attended had financial limitations so it was very nice on a budget.

Thank you for the review of the former Heard-Craig Auditorium. Although the auditorium was sold to the First United Methodist Church last year, it continues to be a viable large wedding reception venue combined with a Heard-Craig GARDEN WEDDING (favorite location in the City).
