We went to the official viewing station right off the highway between Marfa & Alpine (closer to Marfa). We went around 8pm on a day that was overcast & a little rainy. But....we saw the lights with no problem. I counted 6. Very strange that they get brighter & disappear only to reappear in the same spot. I'm clueless to... More

We went three nights and saw lights all three. Did a lot of reading and I am convinced what we saw were lights from hwy 67 on the way to Presidio. They were just to predictable in their paths. But I have read there are other truly mystery lights that only appear 12-30 nights a year that are the real... More

Look on YouTube first so you know what you're looking for. There were good bathrooms at the viewing site which are few and far between in the area! No "Marfa lights " the evening we went.

Saw some lights. Yes, they were mysterious... but likely car lights. As for the rumor they were seen in 1883...easy to forge those docs. Unlikely a fact, but I'm no historian. It's well worth the short drive from Marfa just to be in darkness to see the Milky Way on a clear night. Stunning! Then high tail it up to... More

The viewing area was convenient but as with many locations in this area, only marked once you were almost on top of it. Luckily we had gone to Marfa earlier in the day so we kind of knew where it was. There are some telescopes but you may want to bring binoculars and definitely folding chairs and maybe a blanket... Went about 9:00 pm to the viewing station. And ther they were dancing above the horizon. Then just sat and watched the stars.

A short drive out of Marfa to see this phenom. No one knows what causes them and they are not always visible. You can see them on clear nights. We spent about an hour watching them and it was fascinating. They appear and disappear; split into two; move up and down and side to side; and merge all with diffe... More

Nice place for star gazing. I went there wanting to believe and my wife was skeptical. Came back just the opposite. I think they are car lights but you must go there to make up your mind. Though there were no cars in the late 1800's.

This trip was for the sole purpose of seeing the Marfa lights. We saw several car lights in the distance....I'm not convinced they were "special". The pullout area was nice. It would have been nice to have some comfortable seating, considering the amount of time we were there. I'd probably go again tho.

After some effort I did see a couple of the lights move around on the horizon. I can say that I have witnessed them, and it is interesting. We tried to capture it with our camera but it is faint and we couldn't get a good photo. It was fun being out here in the middle of nowhere and enjoying... More
