For a city the size of Lufkin, this is an impressive little zoo. It has some exotic large animals (hippos, lions, giraffe), as well as quite a few tropical birds. As another reviewer noted, there are quite a few peacocks just roaming the grounds, so be aware. The nice thing about this zoo is that the size makes the whole... More

Amazing zoo! So many varieties! Can't believe a town this size has such an incredible array of animals. Plus such a clean area. Love this town and it's fabulous zoo!!!

Always a nice outing for the kids. In the mornings is best, that's when we see the animals the most. Don't forget to ride the train too.

We are "friends" of The Ellen Trout Zoo and take our six grandsons frequently. We pay $40 a year and can get in without paying entrance fees every time we go. Our boys love going and we enjoy taking them.

It is a small zoo but good prices! Plus they have what everyone should be going to the zoo to see, a sloth! Fun day trip location

Excellent experience for my grandchildren...they love the animals and the train ride. Definitely a go-to for local entertainment and enjoyment for an afternoon. The grounds are clean and well kept. The animal cages and containment is clean and allows for easy observation and enjoyment.

What other small town in a rural area of the state boasts a treasure like the ETZ?? It's shady, quaint, and has many animals that you don't see in the ordinary petting zoo. We try to attend Zoo Brew every year to support the Zoo. It's SO much fun. Our family came from Orange, TX for the event and we're... More

Always a must do when our grandchildren visit for the week. We still ride the train at least once even though they are older. The white peacock will always be the fairy bird to our granddaughter. Reasonably priced and very well maintained.

Interesting array of animals. Animals seemed well taken care of and healthy. Nice naturalistic setting. Good way to spend a couple of hours outdoors.

This wasn't a huge zoo, but it had some cool attractions. The path around the zoo is really shaded with overhanging trees and brush which makes it more enjoyable than walking in the blazing sun. Lots of peacocks. Weird parking. Easy to find and get to. We would visit this zoo again.
