King Ranch Texas

The King Ranch really impacted ranching worldwide not just in Texas. If you like birding and wildlife you'll want to allow time for extra tours. A nice outing for everyone.

The King Ranch is a very historic ranch begun by Captain King in the mid-1800s. He put together many ranches, and today the ranch totals over 800,000 acres in four divisions. The ranch has done a marvelous service in improving the environment, improving all areas of animal husbandry, wild life conservation, and ranch management. The ranch was home to Assault,... More

We booked the two hour tour of the King Ranch. The tour was basic, with one stop at a loom, but there were no other stops...the ranch house was seen from the exterior only, all views were from from the bus, there was no opportunity (other than visit to loom) to explore despite there being several points of interest! The... More

We booked an all-day birding tour for Dec 30. Our guide, Jim Sinclair, was excellent. He is personable, very knowledgeable about birds, and was helpful in finding the birds we wanted to see. For Birds of this area of Texas, this tour is definitely a good value. We have been on several all day birding tours in several countries, including... More

we traveled 1 hour 20 minutes from the Rio GRande Valley to visit this iconic ranch but it was a disappointing experience. We were invited to get into a little bus for 25 people (we were like sardines, there) to go around for 90 minutes without being able to enjoy for a short walk to contact with Nature. The guide... We appreciate your input, and will set up another bird identification training for our historical tour guides asap as the native birds on our tour route should be easily recognized by all of our tour guides. The buses we selected have bucket seats for each individual for your comfort with huge windows to see out, and guides will stop for... More

Marlett was just great as an extremely well informed and very personable guide. She informed us of the history of the ranch and its horse and cattle operations and the afternoon just flew by as we viewed many deer, javalina, crocodile, and many birds. The tours of the grounds and buildings and the history behind them really brought the history... More

The tour was ok. The older woman driving/guiding us was fair, at best. Seemed like whenever there was something interesting, she never really slowed down or stopped so those of us on the wrong side of the bus could get up and look. Then, we had many long stops for every sighting of cattle. She spoke of spotting deer, wild... More

Love it. It's a "must see once in life" fancy cowboys, country music, country clothing. Food was so good.

King Ranch is broken into four main areas that are not all connected. We visited the Norias portion on a guided bus tour. You must book a tour in order to visit the ranch. The descendants of Richard King have done a fantastic job of devoting themselves to the stewardship of this vast amount of land they own. It is... More
