The main atraction downtown is the park across from the old train station it's highlight I'd a monument to the richest acre. It has alot of oil derecks which are lit for the Christmas season with a little ceremony and fair.

The festival was a reminder of small town festivals where everyone feels safe and people smile and speak to strangers. The local fire department was selling shirts to raise funds for their department next to "vendors" who display their handmade decorations and various other things. One man was making various "critters" from balloons to the delight of small children. The... More

Quaint little town, nice to visit for the day. Wouldn't want to stay long though. It's very hot in the summer.

Take a nostalgic visit to downtown Kilgore, Texas, and you won't be disappointed! We really enjoy visiting Kilgore when we are in area. We are from a large city on the east coast, and enjoy the slow paced "Andy Griffin episode" feel to downtown Kilgore. They have several nice little specialty shops, and local restaurants. I always like to pick... More

There are several really nice shops in Downtown Kilgore. Even though the area is small, there are several specialty shops that offer great selections. And when you get hungry after all of that shopping, there are several great restaurants to choose from. I especially love shopping there during the holiday season. The shop owners go all out with holiday decor.

Loved the nice clean downtown. We ate at the Downtown Delight that served frozen yogurt. We're able to sit outside n enjoy the sights n sounds. Train going by, the oil derricks, the town was lit up. Pleasurable trip.

Nice places to visit and eat but not much night life. You will be welcomed by all and it is very safe.

Kilgore is a small-mid size town. Driving in the traffic was easy. Comparing this to Houston, TX traffic.

Some nice shops and places to eat but they close pretty early during the week and are not open late on Saturday either. Most are closed on Sunday.

The old downtown has been in the process of revitalization for a few years. It's really charming to visit the businesses and restaurants in the downtown area. There is also much history of the Oil Boom years to enjoy.
