About
A one-hour tour of one of Jefferson's most historic - and haunted - locations. The Grove is an 1861 home that uniquely mirrors the history of the riverport city... and the ghost stories there go back over 100 years. The history of the home is fascinating; it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. Along with the history, though, you'll hear ghost stories from the owners and find out just what it's like to live in a haunted home. Come visit The Grove for a peek into Jefferson's past... and a few residents who may still be hanging around!

Even in the daylight, The Grove is a spooky place that well earns its reputation as the most haunted in Jefferson and one of the ten most haunted places in Texas!

This is a home. You are not touring a show place. You an towing someone's home. With that in mind be sure to make a reservation.

The owner and guide is is a writer of history and haunted history. During the tour of this amazing home he wove a beautiful tale of the house's history and occupants. Intertwined were stories of the ghosts that still walk the property making sure their home is always loved and cared for by those who enter.

This is a wonderful tour that I highly recommend.

The people who own The Grove are wonderful and very welcoming. They take their time during tours to thoroughly explain the history of the home, the expansions and their experiences. When I was in the blue room, my stomach turned immediately; when I stepped out, I was fine...I listened from the hallway while they were in that room.

Have your camera ready as there are orbs galore and you may even spot a lady who used to live there. She walks in and out of the back, right-side of the home where there used to be a door.

We did 4 guided tours in Jefferson and while they were all awesome, this one was my favorite. I loved hearing the history of the house and the feeling of happy spirits who are attached to it. Mitchell is a great story teller and historian. Make sure to put this one in your travel plans!

I recently visited "The Grove" on October 19, 2019. I really enjoyed this tour, it lasted for about a hour. The cost was affordable. The home owners are nice and very knowledgeable about the history of the home. They are also knowledgable about the city of Jefferson. This tour is not bloody nor does it have people popping out of doors. Just nice knowledgable fun.

This was top on our list to visit. We were not disappointed, the owner/author that lives there, our tour guide, was very interesting and made the tour so much fun!

Mitchel - the owner of the home and tour guide was great.

The tour is comprised of the history of the home along with several great stories about the town of Jefferson. He ties in how the ‘haints’ bless the home with their presence.

I loved the energy of the place and Mitchel. You can tell he truly loves the home and the wonderful history behind it.

Mitch is the current owner (last 17 years) and does a great job of entertaining you WHILE explaining the history of the property, the house, and of Jefferson itself. He is very knowledgeable and knows his facts. He has the research, documents, and photos to back up everything he says.

This is NOT a theatrical tour but a factual tour. History buffs would love this.

All hauntings are friendly but you usually don't see anything on the tour. On our visit.....I was behind the rest of the group taking some photos when I could smell the pipe in the hallway just behind me. It smelled like my Grandfather's old pipe. It was only there a few minutes then gone. I was honored that he came to visit while I was there.

While visiting Jefferson, TX on memorial day weekend we decided to take this tour. We were late, but the host was very nice about it. We put on booties to cover our shoes and caught up with the group. I loved that Mitchel isn't just doing these tours to make money you can tell he really loves this house and its history and simply wants to preserve that and share his love of it with others. None of us had any weird experiences while in the house but loved hearing about the experiences that both Mitchel and his wife have had, as well as other people that have visited. Check this tour out, you won't regret it!
