Very good line-up! They have shows featuring Houston Ballet, Houston Symphony, and Houston grand Opera all for free. You can either sit on the lawn or chairs - tickets for seats can be obtained on the day of the performance (~10 am -1 pm).

We recently picnicked on the hill at Miller Theater before watching a great performance of "Footloose." Performances are usually held just after sunset, so we arrived early with friends to enjoy our food and then got comfortable on our blanket to watch the show. It...More

This is a fun evening, see a play or musical free of charge at Miller Outdoor Theatre. We have always enjoyed these performances. I have gone in the evening with grown ups and taken my grandchildren to afternoon kids performances and have never been disappointed!

A remarkable venue accommodating 3500 people under the canopy in the traditional orchestra position and 10,000 on lawn chairs and blankets on the berm behind it, see some of Houston's finest cultural events, theatre, opera, dance and even symphony events there. A remarkable facility durably...More

We sat on the lawn for the performance of "Footloose" by the Hits Non-profit Theater group. The high school youth put on a top notch performance - and even half way up the hill - the sound and music was easy to hear and quite...More

Love to go to MOT in the Spring and Fall when the weather is nice. Great place to take a blanket, have a picnic, and enjoy a Production. Take mosquito spray just in case. Most time they do not seem to be an issue.

Originally planned as a permanent bandstand about 90 years ago, Miller is now a major outdoor venue with 1700 seats and a grassy hill for spectators. A wide variety of local celebrations, events and concerts take place here. It is a fun family friendly venue.

A great place to listen to a live music performance, sitting on the hill or in permanent seats for an up-close experience. You can bring food and have a picnic, sitting either on a blanket on the ground - or in chairs that you bring...More

Make sure you research the show you want to see ahead of time.  If it seems like it is a popular group get there very early (like 3 hours before the show) to get your seats.  Remember blankets stage right (west side), chairs stage left...More

We would like to see Celtic Fire on 3/17/2017 and would like to sit under the canopy. I see you can get tickets starting at 10:30 am that day but expect the seats to go quickly. Does anyone know how early i should plan on lining up to get 2 tickets for that show? It is the opening show for the season. Also, can you bring food and drinks inside too? Thanks for any advice you can share. We will be taking the metro to get there.

From my experience I've noticed arriving 30 minutes prior is sufficient enough time to obtain your tickets. Yes food and drinks are allowed but I've mostly seen those on the hill with picnic baskets. But again I don't think... More
