About
Downtown Aquarium isn't your ordinary aquarium. Not only does it feature marine animals, but it is also an entertainment complex, with a Ferris wheel, carousel and spectacular restaurant. It's home to around 300 species of marine life and many interesting exhibits. You can view alligators at the Louisiana Swamp, spot a giant octopus at Shipwreck, or encounter piranhas in the Rainforest. While dining at the restaurant, you can even observe scuba divers feeding fish in the floor-to-ceiling fish tank. Tickets are required for the exhibits and individual rides, but there are all-day passes that provide better value. You can save even more with the Houston CityPASS. – Tripadvisor

I ate at the restaurant, the food was great. Service was so-so. The fish swimming by in the dining room can see their friends on your plate and don't look happy. The aquarium part is great, may be cost prohibitive for a family. Get the city pass and save a ton of money.

The good is that it looks attractive from the outside. The water and fountain looks great and makes you think this is going to be a fun attraction. The reality is it is expensive and a waste of time. Parking is $15.50. I used City Pass which saved me some of the wasted money on this because I got value from Space Center, Museum of Fine Arts, and the Science Museum. City Pass doesn't allow you to skip the line here. You wait in the heat until you can exchange your Pass for a ticket. Then you go inside and it's packed with people in a line. It's hard to Pass by to the next exhibit. You kind of just wait in the narrow line. The fish are really nothing special. Then you get to the main attraction which is a white tiger who was sleeping. The exit through the gift shop is next. Everyone around us are like, that's it? Unfortunately, even with the long line, you are done in 15 minutes. There are no dolphins, sea lions, otters, jellyfish, or penguins. I heard they do have some sharks, but they cost extra and City Pass just covers standard admission. This place is a joke.

We used this as one of our city pass admissions and at the entrance, we were told we had to pay $6.50 each to be able to do all the rides and to see the sharks. $15 to park and we were in the aquarium for about 30 minutes, saw the sharks in 8 minutes, and rode the Ferris wheel in less than 5 minutes. Overall, I would use the the city pass elsewhere.

We were in town so thought we would join our daughter and her family with two toddlers to the Houston aquarium. We just purchased the basic ticket and she bought tickets for them to ride the carousel which were $4.50 each. Parents were required to buy a ticket even though the 2-year-old would obviously need someone to help him ride on the carousel? The The aquarium itself was okay, however it was really small and we probably got through it in about 30 minutes. We were disappointed to find out that if we wanted to see the sharks we would have to pay an extra fee to ride the train- We felt this should have been included in our ticket price, especially since they're selling and promoting shark shirts in their gift shop? We were also disappointed that they did not have any kind of step stool risers for toddlers so they could look into the tanks so we were constantly having to lift the boys up. They did enjoy touching the stingrays however -same thing, I don't know why they don't install some kind of a step so kids can touch them without having to have the parents lift them, especially when they have signs of telling you not to put your child on the ledge?!? I've been to numerous aquariums including Dallas and grapevine and they are much better than this one.

I used this as part of the city pass and I still feel ripped off. Cost $15 to park and it took us 20 minutes. All the rides were an additional cost. Pick something else to do on the city pass and skip this

Very small aquarium for the price, nothing outside was open (snacks, sodas) only thing that made it worth it was the stingrays.

Not worth the money. $15 to park and then $48 for three adults. VERY small aquarium for the money. They need to visit Boston to see a good aquarium. Tiger enclosure is TINY and not suitable at all for four tigers as they claim - we only could see one! Spend your money elsewhere this is a tourist trap!!!
