Why they continue to claim that Jesse James is buried here is a mystery. We know here the real grave is and this guy was just an imposter but I guess it still draws in some tourists. For some real life history visit the Acton cemetery where Mrs David Crockett is buried. It's about ten minutes down the road.

The Granbury Cemetery is a very well-maintained historic cemetery and contains the graves of many of the founders and famous residents of Granbury. Most interesting are probably the grave of General Granbury, very small and plain, the supposed resting place of outlaw Jesse James, and a number of the descendants of Davy Crockett. The view from the cemetery overlooking the... More

There is a great view from here. On a clear day you can clearly see the top of the courthouse downtown and the hills off in the distance from the cemetery. It seems to be famous for the possible real grave of Jesse James, one of about a dozen places making that claim. If this is the final resting place... More

I like cemeteries, especially old ones. This fine cemetery features graves dating from the early settlement of Texas by Anglos. Much of the family of Davy Crockett are buried here as is the purported body of Jesse James. There are several old trees casting shade on the graves. Old and new graves are intermixed. You just have to explore.

This is a large cemetery. You might stop at the Train Depot to ask information about where you should look for a grave. The Train Depot is run by volunteers and hours are limited. They have a map at the Depot but no map at the cemetery. Well-maintained cemetery. Jesse James grave is marked but just a headstone and nothing... More

Visited the town's namesake Granbury's family plot along with the alleged final resting place of Jesse James. Kids looked up Jesse James on their smartphones and learned a little of post civil war legend. Worth a visit!

Took the kids to see the possible grave of Jesse James. Of course we had to put a penny on top, just in case. Lots of other interesting headstones. This is a cute little town full of history. Thanks to the reviewer who posted to go to the back of the cemetery to find the grave.

Well maintained cemetary,Still in use, with the grave of Jesse James, the one that is recognized by the James Family as the real one. Also the graves of Granbury, and some of the children of David Crockett. 5 minute drive from the square. Leave a penny on Jesse's tombstone.

Gorgeous final resting place on the top of a hill with great views. The only thing we didn't like was the intermingled old and new graves making it more difficult to look at just older spaces. There is a ton of history here but unfortunately some markers are broken and/or so old we couldn't read them. Did find the plot... More
