We first stopped next door at the adjacent tourist office/chamber of commerce. They were helpful, and then opened up the museum and gave us a brief tour. You can't get much more personal service than that. The museum was interesting; it has a surprising amount on information on criminals and assorted "bad guys" who frequented the local area in times... More

This is an interesting stop for everyone. The Chamber of Commerce building is next door and they will give you access to the museum which is located in an old train depot. Lots of railroad memorabilia. Be sure the kids find the button to make train noises!

An expansive museum that manages not to just cram stuff in from floor to ceiling. Plenty of space and time to properly look around and absorb. The buildings are as curious as the artifacts.

After visiting The Union Station Transportation Museum in Giddings,TX I am very pleased with the friendly service. It is a perfect place to stop by and visit after you have had a long drive and to strech your legs. The tour last anywhere from 20-30 mins tops. Its short and sweet! I highly recommend people to stop by and tour... More

Traveling through Texas on our annual vacation. Best stop on Hwy 290! Personal tour through the museum made it even better.

Great place to take a break and tour. Maybe 30 minutes to go through the museum but a good opportunity to stretch your legs if you are traveling along Hwy. 77 or Hwy. 290 through Giddings.

This museum, located in the restored freight depot building, takes you back to the glory days of passenger rail travel. Exhibits explain the history of the Houston and Central Texas Railway and varied displays include information about trains, depots, and the agents who managed the depots. I enjoyed the exhibit about the famous railroad watches. Also located in the depot... More
