The Rosenberg Library is a lovely turn of the century building that functions as a local public library. Go to the top floor and walk down the stairway and you'll get a quick sense of the grandeur. The top floor has a nice little exhibit on the 1900 hurricane. On the stairway between the first and second floor, there's a... More

The Rosenberg Library is across from the visitor center so we decided to walk in to visit the exhibit on Galveston's history. The building is classic in its design and bustling with people. On the top floor is an exhibit that explains the history of Galveston. It was really informative and we learned a great deal about the city. We... More

If you happen to be walking from Moody Mansion back to town and get caught in a sudden rainstorm, run in here. They have a very nice room of island history, and several other rooms with historical displays, artwork and a beautiful stained glass. The Friends of the Library run a small bookstore, with used books, and the staff chatted... More

The Rosenburg Library in Galveston is well worth a visit. A small but nice museum is free. Archival photos available for viewing if you are interested in history of hurricanes in Galveston, particularly the 1900 hurricane described in Issac's Storm by Erik Larson.

Though I have traveled and lived near and far, I always end up back in Galveston. This library has an interesting history and is a great "free" option for tourists. They have a monthly exhibit on local things, and a floor dedicated to interesting local artifacts. Though you may not find a book you especially want, you can go to... More

It was neat and Free, They had a display of glass ware that I thought was interesting. Talked about Depression Glass and some of the Moody family glass ware.

We passed the Library and just decided to give it a try--so glad we did! Galveston has a rich history and this library has some really interesting exhibits. There was no charge and no one hovering over us so we could take our time. Really enjoyed it!

The Rosenberg Library is a wonderful facility and one of many legacies that the Rosenberg family bestowed to Galveston. The small museum on upstairs is very interesting, and the staff in the reference section are extremely helpful in learning more about Galveston, and providing rare reference material that further explains some of the information that you might learn in their... Rosenberg is part library, part gorgeous meeting rooms for public events, part museum and part historical archives. All of it is nice.
