    Train Lovers Rejoice!
Great place for train lovers. Our 5 year old grandson is a train fanatic and this was the perfect place to make lasting lifetime memories. They also host The Polar Express at Christmas each year!

Great museum for old train enthusiasts
We happened to come upon this museum while walking along the waterfront on Galveston Island. My wife was patient while I decided to stroll through the museum. They had several different engines and train cars on display outside, many of which you could walk through. They also had some interesting displays and short video clips. This is not a large museum, and it only took about an hour to browse through it, but it was an interesting experience.

    Unexpected surprise
right down the street from the strand is a museum of trains, on an Island? Yep and not simply an engine or two! You can climb up and walk through some verry old locomotives and passenger cars preserved in time from years gone by. You can experience what it was like to have paid a ticket to settle down in a seat likely painfully for a few days ride! The luxury of bedding areas and dinning cars with space just enough to set a plate across from another's. The equipment etc is displayed as well connected to early rail times. The equipment displayed here come from all the major rail companies of the day and still displaying the logos of that time. As I said the amount of trains and cars here to compare are amazing for being on this small island! If traveling with small kids likely on a cruise from here arrive early or stay an extra day and see this and more here in Galveston TX.

Great place close to Cruise terminal
I’ve been here several times before and went this year during the steam punk festival and it was amazing. The polar express they do during Christmas time I have heard is a spectacular event as well. If you’re looking for something to do in Galveston, this had got to be on your list.

    Polar Express fun
We booked a ride on polar express train ride at this museum Saturday night December 2. We had to pay $30 to park close but wanted to be close to our destination. Having fun already / recommend this event .

    Interesting and Fun Train Museum
Very fun and interesting museum on the history of train travel in the area. Also a good exhibit on the USS Texas battleship. There are a lot of exhibits here, so it would take a good deal of time to take everything in.

The depot is nice and they are adding a model train in a different building. There is a display from the Battleship Texas with an incredible display of silver. You can tour the trains and cars but most appear to be full of SWA seats. Some of the cars are in poor shape and rusting away.

A must for an train/railroad enthusiast. My favorite part were the vintage railroad posters. The kids liked climbing aboard the trains.

Our first time visiting and we had so much fun! The staff was nice and informative. We enjoyed walking around and through all the train cars. Not crowded and a perfect spot for a fun outing.
