Their collection is fabulous, however Hurricane Ike destroyed their facility. They are currently building out a new space in the county courthouse but an opening date isn't in the near future.

Great film depicting the aftermath of the worst hurricane in history! Well worth the admission price!

I have enjoyed touring the Galveston County Historical Museum downtown in the past years. It was a rainy afternoon on a recent visit, so we decided to go spend some time at the museum. The Galveston County Historical Museum is a must, especially if you know nothing of the history of the area. It's free, it's air-conditioned and very informative. Great exhibits.
