We alway ride the Ferry with the kids, looking for Dolphin and enjoying the breeze! Easy access with Cars, or walk on just to ride and take the trip both ways!

Free ferry ride to Bolivar peninsula from Galveston. A short ride, maybe 5 -10 minute ride. Ferry seems to run often, no waiting. My husband found it exciting to see all the container ships. This is all part of the experience of visiting the ocean, islands, seeing houses on stilts was novel, till we later realized that is all the... More

Texas department of transportation has the best free must do on Galveston. The ferry ride from Galveston to The bolivar peninsula is a the best free attraction I have ever experienced. Park your car and walk on or drive on and get out and enjoy the views. You can walk around the deck or take the stairs up to the... More

We boarded the ferry as the last vehicle, so we had a perfect view from the back. We were stunned by the number of seagulls following us! It was great fun & a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Thanks!

When I have time I enjoy riding the ferry. There is something very peaceful - be it the seagulls chasing you, the dolphins swimming along side, or just the water. I have no problem going across then turning around and crossing again. If you have kids who have not gone for teh ride you need to take them, but be... More

I love to ride the ferry just to see the dolphins. You can park at Galveston side or if you are on Bolivar side you can park there and walk on the ferry and enjoy the ride free. The ferry will take you across and come back to the dock where you parked. When visting Galveston add this to your... More

It maybe a 15 minute ride across the bolivar roads, but being in the open water, watching the dolphins swimming is worth it

I was bicycling and camping the Gulf Coast. I slept on High Island on the beach and bicycled to Port Bolivar. If you are on a bicycle just walk up the sidewalk. The cars are in lines. The ferry pulls in and all the cars, trucks, buses are loaded in under ten minutes. Pedestrians and bicyclists go last. The sea... More
