Great Boat Tour

Great tour with lots of information about Galveston Bay. I've lived here a long time and didn't know most of the stuff they shared. Highly recommend.

We went down to Galveston to see the Spanish Ship El Galleon. It was a reproduction of a 16th century Spanish Galleon. This was supposed to represent the 500 MT vessel, not the largest. It has a Spanish crew who travel the world over and had recently arrived from a stop in Florida. Very interesting to tour and it is... More

We came to see the Galleon that was coming in but it was delayed due to weather. The kids were curious about the Elissa so we decided to tour it instead. The museum is small but the kids loved putting on different hats and taking pictures. We had a great time looking around the ship. You can see where crew... More

The Texas Seaport Museum is adjacent to and part of the Tall Ship Elissa at Pier 21 in Galveston, Texas. The main feature of the museum is to show the movie of how the tall ship Elissa, moored next door, was saved from being scrapped and then restored to a beautiful example of a 19th century, square rigged sailing ship.... Friendly, helpful & knowledgeable staff; also the Seagull II Port of Galveston Tour & dolphin-watch boat ride is a must (good value for the money). Grandkids (ages 11 & 6) first ever trip to the coast & they loved it. I am 62 & disabled (need walker or wheelchair); was using walker that day, & museum & boat staff were... More

With a combo ticket you can see the Elissa, the museum, and take an hour tour of the area by boat. Loved all of it - especially the boat ride where we saw a sunken cement boat from long ago.

Lots of local history and fun wrapped up in this museum. Some very interesting and informative stuff on the Republic of Texas Navy...small and short lived as it was...I learned a good bit here and recommend it to any and all history buffs.

Small, but interesting museum displaying some of Galveston's seafaring history. The Elissa is the centerpiece of the museum. There is a video chronicling the restoration inside the museum. An audio device is available for touring the ship.

Pretty cool to see 19th century technology but one would think there would be a lot more to see for the money especially in a huge state like Texas. Was it worth it? Yes and No

I was a bit disappointed in the Texas Seaport Museum because it was small and had few items to view. However, the gift shop was excellent and so was the Elissa. The 1877 Elissa made the trip worthwhile. It has been resorted and you can self tour throughout most of the ship.
