The Strand is a street stretching about 6 blocks in downtown Galveston. There are many shops, eateries, bars, etc. You can buy a beer in this area and legally walk around it.

Mostly your average souvenir shops but we did discover a few really interesting places there. It is worth the time going through the shops, some of them are really neat.

There's a nice visitor center across from the Rosenberg Library. They can tell you all you need to know.

Ditto...didn't see any golf cart tours, just the horse and carriage tour. Not sure the price on that, but it looked like there was a sign on one of the corners.
