Superb 12 minute video on the birth of Fredericksburg in1846. Original one room school house with a 3 minute audio which automatically repeats, same for original cabin, store, barn, bath house etc. I came away so thankful I live now an not then.

I thought the museum was only the main place where you enter, but I was wrong. You can explore the other houses on the property, and many of them have narration that starts when you enter the room.

Me and my boyfriend loved seeing the many historic things the museum presented. It presented the history of Fredericksburg and was our first thing to do on our trip. Highly recommend starting your trip with a tour. Only $5 for adults. Kids are free!More

Make sure you watch the introductory video. Every building is equipped with a motion detector and when you enter there is a narrative of the history of that building. Most of the narrators are descendants of the original occupants. One of the best "history" tours...More

I was pleasantly surprised during our visit to have people who actually lived in the homes and buildings. They shared their stories and I loved the extra touch this gave to the living history.

Unsure of that. We were the only people there on the pretty day we visited. In general, it's very quiet compared to everything else in Fredericksburg.
