The Marktplatz is a happening place. Starting in May the farmer's market returns, in October the Octoberfest Hall opens, but always there is this replica of the original 1848 first church. Pretty interesting and they explain a lot about the original town.

When constructed in the 1800's, this building was the town center of activities. Well done displays gives a quick overview of the German roots of the area.

This building is a replica built in 1934 (the original was torn down in the late 1890s), but the VK was the original church, school and fort for the heart 120+ souls that founded Fredericksburg in 1846.

We walked around the perimeter after closing time. You can tell the town loves its history. We learned the meaning of "Vereins."
