- Margaret E1 contributionDon't miss Grape Creek VineyardsEve was a fantastic 'tasting ambassador'. We enjoyed the tour and the wines we tasted were outstanding. I recommend this tour to everyone. My favorite wines were Bellissimo, Reisling, and Pinot Grigio. A must visit!Thank you for your review and endorsement of the tour! - Bonita T1 contributionWonderful WineryMy sisters and I visited Grape Creek Vineyards on our annual roadtrip to explore the Texas wine country on Hwy 290 and we had a lovely time here. Michelle K. was our Tasting Ambassador. She was so friendly and knowledgeable…it was quite an enjoyable experience❣️ The winery itself is beautiful as are the grounds and patio areas but the absolute best thing about this place…the wine‼️ It was ALL superb. 😊Thank you for the kind review of our wines, property & service!Written 11 October 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 7 October 2023

- Amelie004London, United Kingdom40 contributionsGreat visit! A must do vineyard!I had checked our tours before arriving and grape creek had great reviews so we decided to go with them and we were not disappointed! We arrived just in time for a tour with Dan Gallini and he was fantastic! We did the tour and the tasting for $45 each. We had a ride around the vineyard and Dan was very knowledgeable about the history of the vineyard and the grapes/wine. We sampled some wine from the Barrels and then went on to the tasting. The wines were delicious! I even took couple of Resiling back to UK! Overall we had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting.Thank you for sharing your experience with your tour at Grape Creek and kind review!Written 1 November 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 October 2023

- avonicsHouston, Texas3 contributionsJen Blossom Wines are excellent!Smooth, robust, full bodied red wines that have no aftertaste or lingering tannins on the pallet. Sure most of the grapes are from cali but we have to admit maturity in grapes matter. And the care in the growing process, terroir, and harvest methods make a real difference in high quality wines. Kudos to Jen Blossom for bringing these wines to Texas. It’s a tasting not to be missed. Steven Krueger, our tasting guide, was welcoming, knowledgeable and catered to our interests.Thank you for taking the time to leave this spectacular review! If you get to have Johna pour for you, you will have the BEST experience! She has a magically descriptive way of describing the wines. We absolutely love our time with her every time! Do not go on a Saturday! We came to Fredericksburg for our anniversary, and we were excited to revisit Grape Creek. Well, the rules now are you have to purchase a tasting for $20 per person before you can buy anything by the bottle/glass, hang out on the patio, or try the restaurant. The tasting pours are a scant 1 oz that you can hardly get the really real taste of the wine from. I know they make good wine from past visits, but I felt disrespected as a client who wanted to have some glasses of what I know I like and purchase a few bottles. They try hard to sell you the membership to make up for the abysmal service. I left I today after the two tastings I was forced to buy and will never be back.

We are sorry you were disappointed. We have tried to diligently communicate our Saturday policies on our website & in the form of a flier handed to you upon arrival. If your wish is to enjoy our wine by the glass, then a Sun-Fri visit would be best for you as you do not have to purchase a tasting option. While we wish we could provide a great experience for all, we are focusing on what we do best, and other wineries are doing what they do best. Thanks.

This Vineyard needs customer service training for their staff. We went to the Vineyard first and they said you had to be a member to partake in their tastings so we turned around and went to the tasting room in the city. Their staff were just as bad as the Vineyard’s staff and turned us all off when the first thing they said when we walked through the door was “we are not doing tastings and we close in 30 minutes“. I was ready to buy a full case of their wine because I had enjoyed a glass at one of the restaurants in town and I didn’t need to do a tasting. Oh well, it’s their loss because I would have been a good customer.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed and apologize for any confusion. Both members and visitors are welcome to participate in a tasting experience. Walk-ins are welcome, subject to availability, and our final tastings do begin 30 minutes prior to closing.

This place would not let us buy a single glass of wine, then could not leave with an open bottle. Also, it’s a bunch of limp bacon, greasy, premade Paninis. Horrible blow to what should have been a perfect day!!!!!
Don’t go here!!!!

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. Wine Club members may enjoy their complementary glass on the member patio or at the restaurant and then have the option to purchase by the bottle.

Overall a pretty odd experience. We paid for the tour and tasting combo because we knew they had a large vineyard and wanted to see everything. The tour was just them driving you to the barn where they kept the wine to do a tasting and driving you back (was not worth the extra money for a tour). Afterwards, we wanted to enjoy our time there so we checked in at their restaurant which was a 30 minute wait so after waiting for our table, we were seated and then told we had to be members to eat at the restaurant. No one told us this when we checked in with the host and so we were asked to leave since we weren't members. The winery is members only on the weekends which makes absolutely no sense because it is when tourists drive to Fredericksburg to visit. We were saddened that we spent 3+ hours in the car and spent $85 for this awful and awkward experience. We have been to many wineries, breweries and distilleries and I'd say this was the strangest experience by far.

Initially, our experience was negative as we arrived about 5 mins after our reservation began and missed our tour. We asked several people to see if there was any way that they could accommodate us since we had already paid for it. Unfortunately, we were told that there was nothing that could be done (no refund, voucher, etc).
However, we were paired with Eve since she has an extensive knowledge of the grounds and the history of the wines. She turned a sour beginning into our very favorite tasting experience! She helped us find wines that were perfectly suited for our palettes, and she ensured we had fun while doing it. We would highly recommend that you request Eve during your visit!

This was our first trip to Fredericksburg wine country. We did the 290 Tour. Our first impression of this place was wow, really pretty and since they stop accepting "commoners" at 2 p.m. on Saturday, we were lucky to be here. The gate guard informed us that in order to step foot onto their precious grounds, we had to either purchase a tasting at $20 per person (which we were planning to do anyway but I don't like that expectation placed upon me) or the $35 tour including a vineyard ride on a golf cart. Well, we opted for the $35 tour only to be told that it was an hour and a half wait. We can wait in the restaurant and have a snack, oh sorry, no you can't, that wait is way too long. So we did the $20 tasting instead. Eve was our hostess and she was excellent. Very friendly, easy going and knowledgeable. We tried the wine and decided to purchase a bottle. The line to purchase the wine was ridiculous so we did not buy any wine or anything else. I realize Saturday is super busy and to expect lines it was just the icing on the cake for a lukewarm experience. It was a nice bonus that we got to keep the wine glasses though. I wouldn't go back here. The atmosphere and staff (other than Eve) was stuffy and rude. Save your money and your taste buds and head back down the road. Plenty of smaller vineyards that treat you right!

Eve was a wonderful tasting guide! She was very energetic and knowledgeable about the grape varieties and vineyard/winery/owner history. For people new to wine, her tasting notes were very helpful but for those wanting a more independent experience it was a little overwhelming. Also the room was very loud and it was hard to understand the process or her directions at times, could be due to the masks or the crowded room. Overall Grape Creek’s wines weren’t anything special (the mosaic and Bellissimo were the best of them), but their Heath label wines (from Paso Robles) were wonderful and I would highly recommend them!

Extremely disappointed, will not go back and will be canceling our membership.
Our experience:
Wife and I visited the restaurant on a Friday evening, order dinner and a bottle of wine - had a great time.
Saturday we definitely to come back and do tastings at Heath & Grape Creek. Again, we had wonderful service, signed up for a membership at Heath, bought 3 bottles and decided to have lunch at the restaurant. We ordered lunch and another bottle of wine, over $400 in less than 24hrs. It was over 100dF outside where we were sorted for lunch. The wife and I had half a bottle of wine left to consume (1/2 glass each), and we asked if we could finish it inside in the AC where multiple tables were open for over the last half hour at 2:30pm. There was zero wait out front, 10-15 tables available outside, multiples tables inside as stated above, literally zero reason to allow us not have 15-20 min to enjoy our time. We were rudely told that wasn’t an option. They tried to Star for COVID reasons and the cleaning that it would require with us moving, which is BS since they need to clean in between each visit anyhow and took them less than 2min per table from our observations being on the site. We also tipped over 20% every cash out (dinner, wine, tastings x2, lunch, wine again) and would have happily given some more for the service, my wife and I have worked tables and understand the turning needs for the service crew.
Where I come from, customer service is the key to success and my business. This is the reason for my 1 star review and why we will JT being going back with our friends and family + canceling our membership ongoing.

TL;DR
We went on Friday and loved it. We went on Saturday and loved it. After a couple hours at the restaurant we got mad when they were consistent with a policy we didn’t agree with; they should have made exceptions for us. It’s rude when people tell us “no”. We left and will never return.

My best friend flew down from Colorado for my Birthday last week, and we got to enjoy the wonderful world of the Fredericksburg wine industry. Grape Creek was out first stop on main and the staff was so genuine and friendly we decided to stay for a tasting. Kind and knowledgeable Patrick set us up to do our tasting with a grand older gentleman named Jim. I want to say that while Jim is not only humorous and welcoming, but he also provided one of the most in depth and informed tastings I have ever had the pleasure of doing. Not only did I enjoy the experience tremendously, my friend and I also walked away having learned something- and that is how I believe all tastings should be, when done properly.
Jim didn't make you feel silly, or under informed, or uncomfortable asking questions. He showed a genuine love for what he was doing and a sincere desire to share that love with anyone who cared to listen. If was the perfect tasting experience all around.
If I haven't said it enough, Jim at Grape Creek in Fredericksburg is AWESOME! I encourage you take a trip out there and see for yourself what a wonderful staff they have. Cheers.

We cancelled ours by emailing Grape Creek and requesting it. They responded promptly. Cancelled because we moved from the area.

I’ve just seen in the last few reviews that you cannot buy bottles unless in the membership. Can bottles be bought at the Grape Creek on Main? I don’t want to join the “club” just for a couple of bottles.
Thanks all!
Btw: First timers to Fredericksburg in February! Finally getting away with the husband! Can’t wait!

absolutely you can buy bottles as a non-member at the main street tasting room in Fredericksburg and in our Georgetown tasting room. Also we have a great on-line store available on the Grape Creek website.

What is the best time of the year to enjoy this winery?
Written 2 January 2021
We went in late fall during COVID and they were open for tours because they qualify as a 'restaurant' as they do serve food in the clubhouse. We had an amazing time and brought home some new favorites from Grape Creek and Heath Winery, a Grape Creek boutique ($$) winery. Highly recommended, the property and the tour are first class.
