I guess it can't be said enough, if you plan to go to Enchanted Rock on the weekend you must go early. We drove from Fort Worth and arrived around 2:00. After everything we read, we knew we would not be able to enter at that time but was hoping we would be told we could come back later in... More

We took the walk straight to the Summit, not far but steep in places. There are several other trails. Get there early because the pro fills up fast and they will shut the gate until later in the day. They give you a trial map at the gate that gives you very detailed info on the park and the trials.

This is beautiful, the rock, the hike and the views. It's not tough but can be slippery. Take your time, enjoy the panoramic views, take it easy on the way down. Tons of parking, lots or camping. Minimal cell service.

I lived in San Antonio for 4 months in 2015 and made two visits to Enchanted Rock. Hands down favorite part was exploring a tunnel-like cave that goes down into the rock and runs under the surface for a little ways. It's a little tricky to find but worth it ... as long as you aren't afraid of small spaces... More

Definitely worth the visit with several options for the outdoors. Comfortable camping area, both managed and wild, good views, dark skies to see the stars, etc.

The park service monitors this park and it is hard to get in.They hand out a limited number of passes. They need to figure out a better way as we drove all the way out there and could not go in. They are not the friendliest park service either.

After taking up walking for fitness, I decided to go up Enchanted Rock. I felt I was in good enough shape to try it. Did real well until I made it to the Summit Trail sign. Then it looked very steep. I spent about 10 minutes talking myself into going on to the top. I saw all these kids and... More

Beautiful drive through ranches from Fredericksburg to the State Park was stunning. Then we got to the park and it was absolutely amazing. Lots of options for hiking trails and although they gave us a map there were no signs at the actual trail heads which would have been great. There were some directional posts with arrows on the trail... More
