About
Bass Performance Hall is the crown jewel of a city which boasts the nation's third largest cultural district. It is also an important symbol of one of the most successful downtown revitalization efforts in the country. Built entirely with private funds, Bass Performance Hall is permanent home to the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Texas Ballet Theater, Fort Worth Opera, and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and Cliburn Concerts. Each resident company operates independently from Performing Arts Fort Worth and manages its own programming schedule at Bass Hall.

We've seen several different events at Bass Hall. Everything from The Nutcracker, to Mannheim Steamroller. This venue is amazing. It is truly a classy place with an intimate connection to the artists that perform. They have a varied and eclectic mix of shows while paying homage to the classics. We are never disappointed. The venue has great parking near by and is a short walk to sundance square. It is easy to make a night or afternoon of it, by enjoying a nice dinner near by or capping off the evening with an adult beverage. They have valet parking and a store inside usually themed to the show being presented.

We love the Bass! The acoustics are great and pretty much any seat in the house is a good one. We have been going to concerts and traveling Broadway productions there for about 20 years. In that time we've sat in nearly the back row of the balcony to the center of the orchestra section only a few rows back from the stage. Of course, closer is better if you can afford it, but the back row is good too.

It's also a beautiful venue. Garage parking is very close and is usually free.

There are lots of good restaurants in walking distance, but just 2-3 miles north on I-35W, you can get a great meal at Mercado Juarez.

We went to the Ft. Worth Symphony last night. The auditorium was perfect, the service and drink bar were flawless. The Strauss and the Tchaikovsky pieces were inspired. The modern piece, while executed well by the orchestra, was simply dark and depressing. We don’t pay to hear dark and depressing. We are not masochists. Do not do this again. I don’t care if you are married to the conductor. Get outside, see nature, lighten up.

We drove two hours to experience a nice afternoon play [Oklahoma] and it was some remade, "woke" version of it. A lot of folks, including us, couldn't wait for intermission to leave. There was a swarm of people out front disgusted with the performance.

I hate to give this location 3 stars but let me explain…
First the performance I went to see was terrific! The view was good from the mezzanine and the acoustics were also great!
I also was very appreciative of the cold air conditioning especially because it was 180F outside! :) . We thought the ushers did a great job as well helping us to our seats.
Now for why I gave it three stars. And unfortunately this is something they cannot change. Have you ever sat in a coach seat on an airplane for three hours? Not too much fun huh? Well this is exactly the experience you get with the seats at Bass, except that the width is actually smaller than the airline seats. So I sit down and you sit with your arms tucked in as close as you can, but your shoulder is right on top of the persons next to your shoulder. Same story with your side. I saw petite people overflowing from their chairs. It just is a real issue. That coupled with the fact that there is absolutely no clearance for your legs makes the experience less than satisfactory. But, I understand finances and they need to pack people in to maximize profits.
We won’t be returning to Bass but instead will go to Fair Park in Dallas for future performances.

We have been attending performances @ this beautiful site for over a decade, & the sensual experience of the architectural design of this building is a "performance" in itself! The hall was reportedly suggested by Van Cliburn to the Bass family, who have been long standing philanthropists of the Fort Worth area. It was designed to be similar to the European opera house motif, with an 80 foot dome ceiling artfully painted with classic iconic images. It is made from limestone & has incredible gigantic sculpted angels adorning the exterior of the structure. The interior is equally impressive with chic metallic railings that surround the staircase concourse throughout the three levels of the building. Seating is very comfortable. We recently enjoyed a New Year's Eve performance of the great Dee Daniels with the entire Fort Worth symphony orchestra acting as her accompaniment! It was an absolutely astounding experience with songs ranging from Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, & even Stevie Wonder. Mrs. Daniels sang the lyrics & played the piano solo for one of the selections from Stevie Wonder! What a delight! This was just one of many fantastic occasions that we have enjoyed @ Bass Hall over the years, including the memories of taking our children to many productions of outstanding events, especially the Christmas Nutcracker favorite. This site is one of Fort Worth's many great attractions, & if you visit Fort Worth you can do no better than enjoying an event @ this beautiful performance hall. I suggest you review the performance calendar for the year for opera, symphony, ballet, & concert events. Parking is free & one block from the building, & you are within easy walking distance to Sundance Square & several outstanding restaurants.

I have been to the Bass hall many times. It is a great venue with great sound. However, be careful when ordering tickets online or over the phone, as the Hall is not honest about what it will cost you to do so until the last moment of check out. Although I selected to have my tickets delivered by mail for free (or so the website said), I was charged $32.00 in fees at checkout for the convenience of ordering online. When I called and asked about the fees, I was told I could come to the box office in downtown Fort Worth and buy the tickets, and not be charged. Obviously, this is just a way of jacking up the price. Why not be honest, and quote the real price in the first place? Don't tell me my tickets will be delivered by mail for free, and then charge me $32.00 extra for the right to buy them online.

We've been attending performances at Bass Hall since 2003 and have never been disappointed, regardless of the venue. No matter where you sit, the acoustics are fantastic. One year we found out very late about a concert showcasing Itzhak Perlman with the Ft Worth Symphony Orchestra. By the time we bought our tickets, the only seats left were in the very last row of the upper balcony. The clarity of the music was fantastic -- whoever designed the hall was a master of acoustics.

The hall is beautful in every respect, from the huge granite angels carved into the sides of the building to the performance hall itself itself -- it reminds me of an old opera house. Bass celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and will hopefully be around for many years to come.

I have found Bass to be the most unwelcoming place. The FWSO has great performances but it’s not worth the hassle of being frisked at the door.
