I am reviewing for camping not day trips. There are 3 camping areas, Springfield for tent camping and Cooks Ferry and Post Oak for tents and RVs with electric. We stayed in Post Oak. It is marked for improvements to be made. The sites and roads definitely need it. While the park is on the lake, most sites don't have... More

We went to Fairfield Lake State Park to tent camp for the weekend and had a great time. Mother Nature dialed up perfect weather. :) This is a very family-friendly and pet-friendly campground. Check-in was fast and the personnel were so friendly. Check-out was equally as fast. There is a little "gift shop" in a corner of the headquarters that... More

Good old boy system. Locals get priority to all other guests. People walk through your site without asking. We had people from across walking to get to their boat they parked at our water site without ever asking. This seems to be a common occurrence that is widely accepted. If you value any sort of respect or privacy or don't... More

Stated in the newly remolded campground and it was nice, level and clean. Campsites are reasonably spaced and restrooms/showers are ok. Not much for hiking but a few nature trails. Lake is what I would call vary clean, absolutely full of fishermen and boats. Nice parks and boat ramps. Even the older campgrounds looked fine to me, lots of sites... More

So we get to the State park and they assign us a site , Unlike every other state park I have been to we got to pick our spot, They have over 130 camp sites that are empty. The after we set up camp we went to the swimming area and the water is way to hot to swim in... More

As far as state parks go, this wasn't bad. We went camping over the Fourth of July weekend. Had some issues with neighboring campers using generators all night with bright lights and up all night until 3am talking and kids screaming and playing (quiet hours are 10pm-6am). Needless to say, I traveled 4 hours to experience peace and quiet and... More

We had a great time. We were looking for a quick weekend camping getaway. We decided to try Fairfield State Park and were very pleased. We camped in our RV in the Cooks Ferry Loop and saw lots of wildlife. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return soon.

Camped here in a travel trailer. Could not reserve a site or have someone save a site even though we paid for the weekend. We were lucky to find a site as they let people just drive through and pick whatever site they want (after hours). Bathrooms were clean with nice hot showers but the shower head could take your... I live nearby and go out to the state park on occasion, first off, since the fish die offs several yrs in a row,the fishing is not good, they should be restocking this lake with fish like before, especially red fish. Need to build another couple of fishing piers also. Picnic areas need to be cleaned up better and grills replaced. Still, this is a... More

This is a great camping spot. The lake is shared with a power plant so the water is hot in the summer time. Some nice dual use trails for Mt Bikes or hikes. Be careful not to hit the deer when you drive in.
