Quite camping grounds and good fishing.

Purtis Creek State Park have park rangers on duty during the day light hours and hold fishing and boating classes for all ages. A very family park.

Beach is formed by two feet wide cement pathway. Toilets are not in not good condition and needs to be renovated. Only picnic areas are very nice.

We spent thanksgiving weekend here, every camping spot was full. But yet it was still quiet and very tranquil. The RV spots are very wooded so you do have some very nice privacy between camp sites. The hiking trails are very well maintained. The lake is completely on park property so you don't need a fishing license to fish, which... More

This is a little piece of outdoor paradise, close to home. My family and I love to come here and camp as well as use the day facilities. This place is family fun for every one.

Pleasant, quiet, relaxed, well maintained park and every camp space is shaded and surrounded with woods giving each space a feeling of privacy. Lake belongs to the park and is managed for bass and crappie fishing. Really enjoyed our week here.

This is a very nice small state park, about an hour outside Dallas. There's a nice beach, a wooded camping area, and functional boat ramp. The lake itself has a lot of standing timber to hold fish. It was designed as a trophy bass lake, though the trophies have eluded me so far. It's small enough that I can cover... More

Excellent Lake to Fish. All Largemouth Bass are CATCH and RELEASE. All other fish can be kept. Nice Camping spots, water and electricity, RV spots also, as well as Primitive Camping. Nice restrooms also Showers with HOT Water. We have camped out in our Tent many, many times, I fish there several times a year.

We visited the park to ride bike trails. There's plenty of trails for a good workout (different levels but nothing too hard) and plenty of pavement if you'd rather ride on the road. We "toured" the entire park by bike. The camp sites are nice as is the beach area. There's a playground area for the kids and a picnic... More

If wanting to escape a big city and do a little fishing this park is great. Not a worthwhile visit for hiking and exploring. I also recommend bringing your food along as the local area has poor restaurants other than the chains. Great staff and very quiet park!

We came here on a cub scout campout and were disappointed in this locale versus other state parks we have visited. We usually put two families per site, but most of these campsites are so small, only one family can fit on most of them. They have only one loop of electric/water campsites so there are fewer choices than at... More
