The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers...

The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers fun, educational and entertaining experiences for the whole family. The Zoo's mission is to inspire a passion for nature and conserve wildlife, and guests can see a number of endangered species and learn about a variety of conservation projects the Dallas Zoo supports. Opened in 2010, our award-winning Giants of the Savanna habitat is internationally known. The savanna features elephants, ostrich, zebras, impalas, giraffes, and guineafowl, often mingling together. The Dallas Zoo is home to a herd of five female elephants and 11 giraffes, which guests can feed by hand. Guests will see the fastest land mammal on Earth, the cheetah, as well as African lions who often spend their days sleeping just inches away from the viewing wall inside the Serengeti Grill restaurant. The Wilds of Africa area features rare animals such as gorillas, chimpanzees and okapi. Guests will enjoy getting eye-to-eye with African penguins as they swim effortlessly underwater. Highlights of the ZooNorth section include the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo, a top-rated reptile and amphibian complex featuring albino alligators, and the Koala Walkabout, featuring the only koalas in Texas, red kangaroo, wallabies, and a lorikeet feeding area for up-close adventures. For alternative transportation to the Dallas Zoo, consider the DART Red Line, which delivers guests to the Zoo's front entrance.

While a small zoo w/ fewer varieties than I'm accustomed to, this was a wonderfully different immersion experience! The layout is so pleasant as it winds along paths through a variety of canopy-style fauna that engulfs you in the experience of walking w/in the animals' "natural" environment. There is a huge focus on the elephant (included giraffes, zebras, ostriches, etc.)... More

I actually won two tickets here and I must say it was the nicest zoo. We went at the very end of March and the weather was amazing, not hot not cold. Perfect for all the animals to still be active in their enclosures. If you do visit this zoo I suggest you go right when they open and head... More

We were totally blown away by our visit to the Dallas Zoo!!! The last time that I had been, it was a sad looking, dated zoo. We were invited for a party and not looking forward to it. WOW!!! It was awesome!!! The animals are in large, natural habitat environments, naturally strolling around, eating, resting, etc. They occasionally come close... More

Great zoo! My family really enjoyed our visit. Plan on being there several hours! I would go in the spring or fall. It was cheaper for us to by a family season pass for our 1 visit than it was to purchase individual tickets!

This is an all day event, but well worth the time. All the animals and close enough where you can actually enjoy watching them. The prices are still reasonable and a great family outing.

What a great experience. Clean, lots of different animals, lots of washrooms, good food, varied souvenir shops. Had a blast! Loved the giraffes!

Love the animals and the environment. Staff is super friendly. I love the animal interaction. We like to feed the giraffes, for $5 you can get a tray of lettuce and actually get to pet and deed the giraffes. If you don't buy the food you can still go and interact with them by touching them.

Very clean and organized. The greatest thing is they show veterans respect and honor. There were very clean areas not like other zoos.

Our family of four, including two children under 3, had a great time at the Dallas zoo. We loved the exhibits and felt like the animals were happy (unlike what you see at some zoos). All of the zoo staff that we encountered were very knowledgeable and friendly. We did the children's zoo/monkey/reptile house area first and wished that we... More

We went to the zoo specifically to feed the giraffes. We visited early in the day to ensure that the giraffes were hungry. We practically had the zoo to ourselves on a weekday from 9am-10am. There were a lot of people entering when we left at about 10:30. But, the zoo had a nice atmosphere with a wide variety of... More
