The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers...

The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers fun, educational and entertaining experiences for the whole family. The Zoo's mission is to inspire a passion for nature and conserve wildlife, and guests can see a number of endangered species and learn about a variety of conservation projects the Dallas Zoo supports. Opened in 2010, our award-winning Giants of the Savanna habitat is internationally known. The savanna features elephants, ostrich, zebras, impalas, giraffes, and guineafowl, often mingling together. The Dallas Zoo is home to a herd of five female elephants and 11 giraffes, which guests can feed by hand. Guests will see the fastest land mammal on Earth, the cheetah, as well as African lions who often spend their days sleeping just inches away from the viewing wall inside the Serengeti Grill restaurant. The Wilds of Africa area features rare animals such as gorillas, chimpanzees and okapi. Guests will enjoy getting eye-to-eye with African penguins as they swim effortlessly underwater. Highlights of the ZooNorth section include the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo, a top-rated reptile and amphibian complex featuring albino alligators, and the Koala Walkabout, featuring the only koalas in Texas, red kangaroo, wallabies, and a lorikeet feeding area for up-close adventures. For alternative transportation to the Dallas Zoo, consider the DART Red Line, which delivers guests to the Zoo's front entrance.

This zoo was especially neat we thought for one reason - the gorilla exhibit. We don't always see them. We saw the feeding. The were incredible to watch. They have a giraffe exhibit where you can feed them, or just stand right beside on bridge. The man at the elephant exhibit that worked at the zoo was friendly and told... More

Nice zoo but not enough animals. Rather small place and many animals were hiding. No bears, no hippos, no leopards, invisible giraffes. Needs better and healthier food choices at the restaurants.

I have been to lots of zoos and aquariums across the country acrid have now visited this zoo twice. I think it could be a good zoo but most of their animals were not on exhibit. I realize that it is January and cold but like I said I have visited many zoos at all different times of the year,... More

A quaint and beautiful zoo easy to navigate to all the interesting displays. The zoo keepers are very informative.

The zoo is in two large sections. The safari area is nice and you can feed the giraffes for a fee. Love it when they have Polar Bear days only $5. Parking is crazy and usually full can take an hour just to find a lot not full.

Though we have membership to the zoo, we had a lot of extra people visiting with us this time. January is Penguin Days meaning that entrance is only $5, a real bargain. The day was cool to cold, but animals were out--even the koalas were out and awake--and we had a fun time. Despite the weather, the Bird Show located... More

$5 was what we paid to get in for their winter special. Although it was cold, our 4 year old and 6 year old enjoyed it. The reptile house is full of poisonous and unique animals and the rest of the zoo was good. Although it's twice the size of the Atlanta zoo, there didn't seem to be too much... More

Okay so apparently here they offer a cheap entry fee at $5 called Penguin Days when the weather is chilly! What a great thing to do on a gorgeous sunny day like today. We are from out of state and had time to kill prior to flying late in the afternoon. After reading not so good reviews I wasn't sure... More

Pretty straight forward; wild animals that aren't really there to do the dog and pony show for tourists. Have been to many zoos and this one is above average. If you can catch the elephant chat it is worth the time.

We visited the Zoo on New Years' Day, our last full day in Dallas. Public Transportation (DART) has a stop right across from the main gates. While this zoo isn't large compared to other zoos I've visited (Toronto, San Diego), it does have some diversity and is easy to navigate. There are plenty of places to stop, rest, lots of... More
