I consider WRL to be our Central Park. While it may not have nearly as many features and extras, its definately just as much as a place to escape for a few minutes or all day if you like.

Once the city water supply now just a park on a lake. Dog park at the north end - a sailing club rent kayaks but probably not a place I would choose to swim. After a heavy rain the spilllway is quite a site and when the water is slower it is covered in birds.

We attended a wedding here. It was very nice. We watched the sunset while seeing the city across the lake. It is a beautiful place to go and relax. Our son enjoyed being able to run around and get some fresh air.

Close to Dallas, a little crowded sometimes, but great place to go ride bikes and there's even a enclosed dog park. It's clean. The grassy area is a little rough and patchy some places but you can still have picnics and whatnot. Makes for a beautiful sunset view of Dallas as well.

Looking for a near-by, last-minute something-to-do with the kids, we drove around until we stopped at White Rock Lake Park. My wife, children (5 yo and 2 yo, at the time), and I walked along the trail for a bit. The kids had fun throwing sticks in the water, before we took them to the playground. The lake is nice... First, the address listed on here takes you to one of many parking places. I found it really helpful to have the address so I could tell my friends where to park. Don't underestimate the size of the lake. My friend and I thought we could walk around the whole thing but within an hour we realized it was much... More

I had a ball last evening when I went to this lake....the best place I saw in Dallas. Saw many beautiful dogs enjoying their strolls and many groups canoeing. Many groups were preparing for outdoor activities.Bikers too were exercising. The whole atmosphere was lovely ending for me with the colorful sunset.

This is a gorgeous lake! Kayaking, canoeing..no swimming! Again, this is not a swimming lake! Its a peaceful, quiet lake. :-)
