Since I grew up in XIT land, it was a trip down memory lane for me. Many of the names mentioned were in my memories. I would recommend this museum to anyone interested in the lore of the Texas Panhandle.

We all enjoyed walking around the museum and seeing pics of the old cowboys and other old things. There was also a more modern area about the dairys, the kids found interesting

The XIT Museum tells the story of the great XIT Ranch, the history of the city of Dalhart, and the Panhandle region of Texas. My three kids love going to the museum and they learn something new each time. Rotating exhibits keep things fresh. Curator...More

A work in progress but what museum isn't? They have a lot to share and the museum looks small from the street but don't let that fool you. There is plenty to see. Everything is carefully identified and displayed nicely.

The XIT museum tells the story of the XIT Ranch which I found very interesting. The museum wasn't real big but I still spent about 1 1/2 hours there. I would recommend stopping here if your into ranching history or old west history. They operate...More

Be prepared to spend much time because the museum has many interesting rooms to explore. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We would encourage...More

From the street, this museum looks deceptively small. The majority of the museum is dedicated to the ranch, including the people, work, everyday life, animals, and tools associated with it. There were also other displays about local history. In the back of the museum, there...More

It is a small but interesting museum. The video that is shown on the Dust Bowl is impressive and touching. It makes the museum worth going to. Definitely worth your time.

This little museum was actually quite large. It featured the XIT Ranch & lots of cowboy memorabilia. Other rooms were wildlife, lots of antique household items, rooms from an early home, art gallery, hat making display, early transportation. We were really very impressed with this...More
