My husband and I have driven through Cuero many times on the way to the Texas coast. This time we decided to spend 30 minutes driving around town. We were surprised to see many beautiful historic homes. The 1880 Heaton Breeden House was built for the family of David Heaton. David Heaton was the owner of Cuero's first drugstore. In 1924, the home was sold to prominent civic leader Charles G. Breeden. The colonial revival house is located one block off the main road through town. It has a two-story porch with tall columns. Several other historic homes are on the same street and it is certainly worth a drive by.
