About
For a fun and interesting family outing you can’t go past a visit the Caloundra Lighthouses at Canberra Tce, Caloundra. They are open every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, 9:00am - 3:00pm. You can climb both lighthouses, but the 1896 structure is not for the feint hearted. Both offer spectacular ocean views, and you can see the ships rounding the marker, and entering Moreton Bay with the sand cliffs of Moreton Island behind. Look the other way and the Glass House Mountains are laid out before you. Learn about Caloundra’s history and the lighthouses. The experience is a very reasonable $5.00 entry for adults, with children free. When the flag is flying they are open . Booked tours can be arranged, $5.00 entry for adults, minimum $40.

Visited this lighthouse on holiday with family recently. Had a spectacular view and would definitely go again. The only downside of this experience was the fact that my son Jacob fell off the lighthouse paralysing his whole body but apart from that minor inconvenience everyone (other than Jacob) enjoyed the lighthouse - would highly recommend to families.

We dropped in to the lighthouses and really enjoyed the experience. Shame about the high rise units next door sort of takes the highest peak thing away but very interesting history. I actually liked the newer lighthouse over the old one but they were both really interesting. Take not of opening times, see pic

A really interesting and different thing to do around Caloundra. Great for kids too. The volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable.

Only thing I would warn is be careful if heights aren't your thing. Particularly in the old lighthouse! But if you can stick it out, the views are definitely worth it.

Gold coin donation for entry. Allow maybe an hour? Just depends how long you'd like to spend enjoying the views and whether you visit both lighthouses.

great tour of the lighthouse including being allowed to climb to the top of the old lighthouse.Volunteers were very helpful and there were some great old photos that had been enlarged of Caloundra in the early days. From the top of the lighthouse you can see right back to the Glasshouse mountains and also over as far as Moreton Island across the ocean

An interesting visit to the two historical lighthouses: a good climb up the hill and then the stairs, and great views over the coast and inland. For a $2 donation, great value. The men acting as guides are friendly and knowledgeable. I particularly enjoyed the history of the original 1896 lighthouse; make sure you read the informative sign outside on ground level. If you can stomach heights, be sure to go outside on the balconies, especially that of the older one.

I include this feature in my daily walk around the King Beach area on my six monthly visit to the Sunshine Coast. I stay in a unit on the headland some 400 metres away. I always stop underneath the lighthouse for a few minutes to take in the spectacular view. Have also enjoyed an enjoyable B.B.Q. or two at the facilities at its base. Also, this is a great spot to view the cruise ships passing by.

Visited the lighthouses during the week, forgot they only open on Saturday mornings. You get a great view of the area from standing there, can't wait to go inside and check out the lighthouse.

Well worth a visit on an open day when you can climb to the top. Lovely knowledgeable volunteers make this an interesting trip. The last climb up the ladder in the oldest lighthouse was a bit scary for my 4 year old but fine for a 7 year old.
