My wife and I enjoyed a cool afternoon exploring this old homestead in Carrollton. We are both crazy about old barns, and the barn there was very interesting. The house was locked, but we could plainly see through the windows to a lovely farm home with turn of the century furnishings. There was a pump near the back porch and a storm cellar not too far away from the back steps. It made us wonder about what life was like way back then, and it was free!

A wonderful place to document early settlers of Carrollton. It is a step back in time with a beautiful park to walk around. Check out the movies on the lawn and Christmas events on their website. If you live in Carrollton, it is a must do activity. Don't forget to leave a little change for donations to keep it going.

While most people go this spot for the historical significance, it is one of my favorite places to go to take pictures. My son had his senior pictures taken here and one of my favorite shots is of him and his best friend (from birth) wearing their letterman jackets looking in the barn together. I just had my grandson's two year pictures taken here and they turned out really cute, If you want that shabby, sheik, barn look, try this location.

Located just northeast of the historic Carrollton Square, the homestead was purchased in 1857 by A. W. Perry, one of the pioneer settlers in the Peters Colony. The present home was built in 1909 by Mr. DeWitt Perry and was occupied by family members for over 100 years. Today the 12-acre homestead is owned by the City of Carrollton as a museum and park. The restored interior is full of period furniture and household items. Surrounding the home are a barn, smokehouse, and generator house. Tours are available 3 days a week and the grounds are also used for special events. A great place to learn about north Texas history in the early 1900's.

We came here for a Christmas event. Carrolers and hot cocoa, pictures with Santa and a petting zoo for the kids. The house was open to meander through and take a glance back in time. The barn is darling and understandably a nice backdrop for wedding photos. There’s a nice park leading away from the homestead, will be back to check out during other seasons!

We visited this homestead on a Sunday, and it was closed. However, we could see in the windows of the home, and we were able to still walk the property. It is immaculately clean, and the grounds are gorgeous. I imagine that many of the locals have their wedding and graduation pictures made here. By walking just a few feet, you are instantly taken back to a simpler time, and it is indeed a must-see for people of all ages who are visiting Carrollton. It's also an excellent place to have a picnic.

Lovely small historic site for a picnic, tour (when open), city holiday events or staging photos (engagement, wedding, graduation, etc.). Great in the Spring for Bluebonnet pictures NOT on a busy highway! Delightful oasis in the busy Metroplex.
