My 4 boys loved their visit. It started raining but the dinosaur tracks are covered so it wasn't too bad. Didn't get the walk around the grounds because of the rain. What saved day for my boys is what they found in the small museum gift shop. Each of my boys got their own dinosaur track replica that looks real. They are made from some type of stone and have different color finishes. They do look cool on display in their rooms. Even with the rain we had a very good time and I recomend this museum for any family with kids.

When we arrived we found ourselves in the museum store and that is where we bought our tickets and were set up with a tour guide. We were given an overview of dinosaurs and shown various fossils including coprolite (dino poop!). Then we got to see the tracks. WOW there are a few different types of dinosaur tracks, all criss-crossing so that you can really visualize them walking around on the giant slab of rock. the property owner uncovered. They are beautifully preserved and the tour guide used a laser pointer so it was easy to see what she was pointing out. There is also a ramp leading to a point above the tracks for a better vantage point. Back inside there were a few more rooms of the museum that were self guided, containing artifacts, antiques and an overview of the nearby Canyon lake and dam and area history. Overall it was a very fun and interesting visit for us and all of the kids (ranging from 3 to 10). We had five boys and a baby with us (one was a family friend), and the museum workers were both incredibly patient and kind and even complimented the boys on their behavior even though I'd thought they had been a little crazy.

This place is amazing. There are 28 dinosaur tracks. Original tracks are exposed and eroded due to weather. They received a grant and a large portion are now covered. There is a new addition of tracks donated by purchasing adjacent land by a board member that you can walk along. VJ who works at the museum is very knowledgeable regarding the history of the museum, the tracks, and the dinosaurs. There are Iguanadon and Acrocanthosaurus tracks in addition to those of an ancient snail. There is a small gift shop and museum with many fossils.

This is a small museum with an amazing attraction. In the gift shop/office, we were given a story of the dinosaurs that lived in the area and the types of tracks we would see. She even showed us a black rock that scientists have confirmed was 110 million year old dino poop. Thankfully my fingers didn't smell after touching it.
Our guide then walked out with us and showed us the dinosaur tracks uncovered when the owner wanted to level out some of his land.
She then left us to explore on our own and when we climbed the stairs we could see and imagine dinosaurs walking across the flat surface.
There was also Texas Hill Country history with an old post office and the history of the Canyon Lake Dam.
Outside there were old farming equipment and other historical pieces.
A really interesting place.

This is a great place to visit with children who love dinosaurs! Our 3 yr. old had a blast seeing the dinosaur tracks, stomping through the Cretaceous garden, and digging in the Dino pit. Our tour guide, Lelo, was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the tracks and the dinosaurs who created them. The tracks are covered to help prevent erosion and makes looking at the tracks much more comfortable. They have lots of trails to explore to see more tracks that have been discovered more recently. In addition, they have a Native American exhibit inside and pioneer exhibit. We had a blast and can’t wait to go back!

Very nice smaller museum, two rooms of local artifacts. The dinosaur tracks are under a large covered area so you can stay out of the sun while viewing them. The price of admission is very reasonable.

Very cool to check size of your foot with that of a dinosaurs. This location was once the beach area before shifting of earth. Finding new Dino tracks also in area will make this a even more cool place to spend a afternoon.

Get the kids out of the house this summer and investigate this really fun little place at Canyon Lake. You can see everything in 30-45 minutes and it's not "lame" like my pre-teens anticipated. If you live in San Antonio or the Hill Country you will see tracks and fossils, and hear explanations that will have you slowing down and looking around on future local hikes. It opened our eyes to the treasures that really are around us.
Stop in and give them a chance. The docent's are so nice and happy you're there. Then continue on to the lake or Gruene or Wimberley, wherever you were headed.

Just stopped by for the fun of it! My husband is a history fan and enjoyed it! A retired couple was our tour guides. It was exciting to see the Dino tracks, this would be a great place for kids who like dinosaurs to visit. Great price $4 for adult and $3 for kids free if under 5years old.
