We drove here from Wisconsin for the mountain bike trails. They were rated high, and there were many miles of them. We were not disappointed. Trails range in ability with Pasio del Rio & Juniper River being easy enough for anyone up to Rock Garden which tested my skills, but was ultimately rewarding. We also did quite a bit of... More

Beautiful place to visit. The views are stunning and the park is well maintained. There is plenty of camping available in the canyon along with a small store. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails. There were some cabins that looked like they could be rented. The drive to get into the canyon is steep, but manageable. The visitor... More

We just spent one night on our way through the area. We camped in beautiful Juniper Loop in our motorhome on a pull-through site. We had enough time to drive a lap through the park, stop at the dugout, the big cave and a few of the overlooks. Especially enjoyed the wildlife at sunset: turkey, deer and rabbits. Rode with... Palo Duro is amazing!! I went during spring break with a friend and my daughter(11) and she was awed by the scenery. This is definitely a unique place to visit in Texas.

Enjoyed the sunny, cool spring weather! Hike in the spring or fall if possible. The campsites are quite nice.

The canyon has beautiful rock formations; you can drive to the bottom of the canyon and see the striations going down and up. There are lots of places to picnic, camp, and rent a cabin. It is not as grand as the Grand Canyon but very interesting as you can visit it close-up by driving into the canyon. There is... More

Unique Texas setting. Ideal for hiking and nice camp sites in the park. Convenient to Canyon and Amarillo. The visitor center is a two hour stop before visiting the state park. The cabins on the rim have great views but must be booked very long time in advance.

Didn't even know the canyon was there; found a reference and drove over to check it out. Well maintained, lots of trails with beautiful landscape. Perfect for campers, hikers or to just drive thru in the car. Pets ok too

The history of this canyon will shatter any idealistic romanticizing of Manifest Destiny. Take time before your visit to read up on the Red River War. Since we had hours of driving to get there we listened to Empire of the Summer Moon book on tape. Might as well get real about this place and time in American History. It... More
