They call it the grand canyon of Texas and although maybe not so grand but still a beautiful park with breathtaking views, and really worth visiting. We also really like that there it's less touristic so you can enjoy the silence and the beauty of...More

I grew up near here and have been going to the canyon for years. Must see the TEXAS melodrama that performs each summer.

Absolutely beautiful, stunning park. Be sure to be aware of heat. Take plenty of water. The canyon is surreal.

We stayed two nights here in our Airstream (RV) and brought our two dogs. Our campsite was located in the Mesquite campsite which is at the back of the park but, we recommend it because it's spread out and has 30/50 amp plus water hookup....More

HIGHLY recommend Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Take LOTS of water with you, as it gets awfully hot in Texas most of the year. Hiked and explored several of the nooks and crannies. Wished we had brought our bikes to explore more. It was pretty...More

We stayed in Mesquite. We liked it because you have a lot of space. It's located at the back of the park, so I feel as it's not as crowded too.
Do you have any special attractions over the 4th of July weekend?

I am sorry, but I can't answer your question. I was just a visitor at the canyon back in December. I would contact the park.
