Lynchburg Ferry

After a meal at the Monument Inn, it's always fun to take the ferry across The Houston Ship Channel. It's free, but is too small to get out of your vehicle.

This ferry is a great piece of Texas history and the short trip is fun. The line is usually long, so don't take this if you're in a rush. However, the history around this route is amazing. This spot played a huge role in Texas gaining independence from Mexico. So, take your time, read the historic markers while you wait,... More

It's the only way to get to the battle grounds with out going down 225. You get to see all sorts ocean going ships using the channel and barges. They have a park next to the ferry landing on the south shore and right down the street is the uss Texas battleship

If you like a secluded romantic place for dinner this is the place, this is not a place to take your kids, the food is wonderful, very friendly.

I drive down to the ferry on a regular basis. The crew is friendly reassuring when I'm the first or last one aboard. Its free to take the ferry and its a nice little break in the monotony.

This free ferry service connects I-10 to SH225. You can watch ships going in and out of the Port of Houston. San Jacinto Monument, Battleship Texas are nearby.

It seriously was 5 minutes...including loading and unloading. 7 cars (max) could fit. There is not even time to get out of your car. I don't really see this as an 'attraction'...it is a ferry.

This ferry is small but it gets you from point a to point b. If you have a phobia of water I advise not to ride. Like I said it's small but it's not run down. They only run one for it's not very far across from side to side. We enjoyed the ride.

It's a short ride on the ferry however it's just long enough for the kids to feed the seagulls. It's nice to get a view of the monument from the water, somehow it seems to be a better view.
