We took 2 2-person kayaks with our kids (8yo and 11yo) on the 6 mile trip. We probably did more of a "float" than a "paddle", plus we stopped enroute for snacks, so it took us longer than the 2 hours. They called to check on us, which was nice; in hindsight we could have mentioned we were going to... More

It was a stinking hot Saturday in Austin - 100+ so we decided to spend the morning on the water somewhere and what better place than meandering down the lazy Colorado River! Rising Phoenix and Jami were excellent. We took a two person kayak for a paddle and did the 6 mile trip starting at 9am (any later would have... More

My wife and I took a two man kayak for their 6-mile trip at 11AM. We did have an appointment/reservation, and were a few minutes late, but they didn't mind. Check in consisted mostly of signing a waiver, getting fitted with a life jacket, paying, and in our case changing. If I have one complaint, it's they don't have changing... More

We took a two-man kayak out on the short 6-mile trip. Going at a nice leisurely pace, with a stop off to enjoy a riverside rope swing, it took us just over 2 hours to reach the exit point, as advertised. We did not see even a single person for the duration of the trip, making it feel like we... More

My husband and I took our grandchildren kayaking. Rising Phoenix was very flexible and fit into our plans well. Most of us had no experience in kayaks, but our guide, Jami, made everything easy. We went early in the morning, as we're not used to the Texas heat. We took the shorter trip, about six miles long on a calm... More

There is a 6mile and a 20 something mile day trip available. It is a great trip for anyone, no experience necessary. We went in 65 degree weather and it was still absolutely perfect as you do not have to get wet, but certainly have that option on warmer days. Knowlegeable guides, but kayaking is normally self guided which is... More

Hi, great way to spend 3 hours of your day with friends, family and have a relaxing, fun time. Today we went back on the river with Phoenix for about the 6th time over the years. From the minute you book to arriving at the store, you are taken care of by some excellent folks. They have been doing this... More

We were three first-time kayakers, two adults (50+ years old) and one 11-year old. We told them we were beginners and originally requested the guide service (as recommended on their site). The owner talked us out of it saying the river is very slow moving and shallow. We signed up for the 3pm departure but were asked if we could... More

This is a review of the 6 1/2 mile paddling trip down the Colorado river in Bastrop. This company offers longer expeditions as well, and also does cycling trips and bicycle repairs. We were given 3 hours of time, and met at the gear store on the outskirts of downtown Bastrop. We were then given our life vests, a dry... More
