We visited this small gem of historical information on the advice of locals. It truly has a lot of artifacts of interest, most of which were found right in the area of Townsend. Native American things, also things of interest of the people who migrated to...More

This was a nice place to visit and learn about the smokeys. They had a lot of artifacts, history, replicas and knowledge of the people who migrated to the area and how they lived. A nice outdoor display of old houses and mills outside. I...More

This center is definitely worth a visit. The material presented is interesting and well presented. It complements a visit to the Smokies. Be prepared to spend no less than 2 hours and probably much more.

This side of the Smokies is my favorite, but despite several visits to the area, I had not visited here until specifically attending this festival. Lovely, educational, and definitely worthy of future visitations!

Average center, not unique enough. In and out without much to remember and few people around to ask questions of.

We were not expecting such a wonderful place. Regret not having enough time to visit the museum but this will be on our bucket list for next time we visit. The entire area and building are exemplary. Cannot wait to come back!

We spent about two hours here one afternoon. There is more here than you would expect from the front. While the museum part is much smaller and less sophisticated than the Museum of the Cherokees in Cherokee, NC, I learned some things about the Indians...More

This is worth a trip to "the quiet side of the Smokies" as Townsend rightly calls itself. The admission fees are modest and the indoor exhibits of both the Native American and European settlers are very well laid out and explained. Outside, there are 13...More
