About
Marathon Village is a neighborhood born out of the buildings that once housed the Marathon Motor Works from 1910-1914. Marathon Motor Works manufactured and sold the first car of the South! Today, it serves as a model for adaptive re-purposing of historic structures. Marathon Village has become a diverse destination where artists, performers, designers, music business professionals, and inventors co-exist. Our Factory houses our museum along with a retail experience like no other that includes flagship stores from the History Channels’ American Pickers to legendary whiskey makers, Jack Daniels. Come sip, shop and explore the history of our village! The building is open until 8pm. Each shop/business has their own hours. Parking: - Free street parking - $10 Visitor Parking in the lot
Duration: 2-3 hours

    Very Interesting
A hidden gem. These guys made cars here from about 1910 to 1914. There are only 8 of these cars left. 6 of them are located in the management office across the street from the factory. All the tools are hanging up to show you what was used to make these cars. The actual factory has been reduced for shops. But you get the idea of how these factory worked.

    Tourist Souvenir shops.
This is a stop on the hop on hop off and would have not visited otherwise. There are 6 marathon cars to look at if 1910 cars are your thing. There are about 20 shops for tourists in the old factory but it is not like a mall. They are doorways into older rooms. The rock and roll art was nice to see and many places to buy Nashville souvenirs. Not a place to go if you are hungry. There is one cafe but closes early.

    Marathon Building Nashville
Stopped by Marathon Building in Nashville. Many shops with the usual Nashville souvenirs. Also a Jack Daniel’s and Harley Davidson apparel stores. Stopped by the Tennessee Whiskey shop and tried the free samples. I purchased two bottles one Coconut Moonshine and one Bourbon bottle. Stopped The American Pickers shop but not that great . Mostly just apparel about American Pickers. If you’re into that go.

Have a beverage and shop a bit
Marathon was recommended for its mechanical equipment and shops. We enjoyed seeing the machinery, patents, newspaper articles and quaint shops. Something for everyone and worth your time to check out. Distillery was welcoming, winery not so much. Beautiful wood floors and beams.

Lovely heritage building with boutique shops
We were so pleased that we visited these buildings. So much history with plenty of mechanical and engineering equipment on display. The shops are awesome with many different gifts that we haven’t seen elsewhere. There are different buildings, so be sure to check each one.

The building itself is beautiful. The shops are kitschy at best - in each shop we knew - typically - that they weren't our cup of tea within 30 seconds. Antique Archaeology store was very disappointing - overpriced reproductions and tourist trap trinkets. Twenty dollars for parking across the street - we were there for a whopping hour. Total waste of time

We enjoyed the seeing the transformation of this former car manufacturing factory to its current collection of shops, distillery, winery, comedy club. It wasn't very busy on a Tuesday when we were there. We enjoyed looking through the shops and husband enjoyed seeing the pieces of history throughout the facility. We parked for free on the street one block away
