Belle Meade Plantation is a non-profit historic site located in Nashville, TN. Established in 1807, Belle Meade was revered as the greatest thoroughbred stud farm in the United States. It was home to Iroquois, the first American bred horse to win the Epsom Derby and the great foundation sire,Bonnie Scotland, whose descendants include Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Native Dancer, Big Brown and California Chrome.

Belle Meade was owned and operated by the Harding-Jackson family for nearly a century from 1807 until 1906. Today their home is restored to its turn of the century appearance along with several original outbuildings.

We visited Belle Meade in March and enjoyed the hour long guided tour, which was interesting and informative. The home has many original pieces of furniture and artwork. The guide spoke of the history of the Harding Family, the plantation, the horses. After the tour there was a wine tasting, and we explored the grounds on our own, including outbuildings.... More

My 14yo daughter decided to visit Belle Meade and we were glad we did. She actually enjoyed it and took a lot of photos. It's in a very nice area of Nashville. Pricing depends on what you want to do. You can chose to visit just the grounds, the grounds and the house tour, a Segway tour and a wine... More

A group of four us bought Groupons for the Segway Tour. It was a nice way to see the plantation. The tour was shorter than other Segway tours I've been on. It was more about the history and not as much Segway. The tour guide (Katie) was very nice and new a lot about the plantation! I'm a huge fan... More

A fascinating story of a family of entrepreneurs who were business savvy to anticipate new opportunities ahead of their time on the trail from Nashville to Natchez, and yet within a century those hard earned fortunes were lost. The guided tour of the mansion was excellent, ending with a complimentary wine tasting was novel and very well done. An interesting... More

We visited Belle Meade last June while traveling to Alabama. We stopped and did the guided tour which was full of interesting facts, got to walk the plantation property, and had a wine tasting at the end of the tour. The wine shop had great items for sale and we purchased a bottle of wine and glasses as a souvenir.... More

I have been here several times. The tour is very interesting, especially learning about the equestrian lineages. Bonnie Scotland's bloodlines run in so many famous horses, it was fascinating to hear about, for this Kentucky girl anyway. At the end of the tour, there is a wine tasting, a terrific gift shop and the restaurant has excellent food.

This is a beautiful home and the grounds are spectacular. Our tour guide was great. They do small groups so you have time to look in each room. Very knowledgeable and kept all ages entertained. Free wine tasting included at the end of the tour.

Did not know what to expect but we did enjoy our visit. The admissions price was a little high. The grounds are nice. There is some deferred maintenance that needs attention.

Our tour guide was knowledgeable. The guided tour inside the mansion was interesting and ended with a wine tasting. Although the wines were not our favorites, the sommelier was delightful. We then proceeded with the self guided part of the tour, walking the grounds. Overall a good experience.

Overall, I loved the tour. The historic background and site was amazing and very happy to see the background information. Sadly, the women that we encountered for the tour and while we were checking in were both rude to a large group. It definitely set the tour off on a bad step. Luckily, the wine at the end of the...
