Lots of Cafes have a wood fire burning in winter, lots of different Selections of food with a high standard. Great friendly service. The hotels are also good, different shops including antique places. Well worth a visit as there is a huge historical history To find out about. Enjoy. We will keep going back each visit is different and enjoyable.

Dubbed somewhere as the Gold Rush town that has had the least change, the buildings are authentic, dating back to 1835. Quaint old town

So nice to wander the main street of Maldon. One can almost hear and visualise the horses and carriages in the street. So many interesting and varied stroes to browse of just visit.

Curving its way uphill from the centre of town, Main street passes the shops, cafes, print rooms, supermarket, hotels, and some gold mining sites before becoming the road to Bendigo near the railway station. Much of the architecture remains what it was over 100 years ago and there are restrictions that may well stop any changes to this.

As the first notable Victorian Town it should be obvious that it was built of the back of the gold found in the area. The main street exudes the history of that era and a slow wander up and down the main street is a must.

I just love wondering around the Main Street of Maldon discovering new little shops and cafes, a nice way to spend an afternoon with friends.

The streetscape of Maldon is amazing. It remains untouched by modern architecture, with all shops retaining their original gold rush era facades. There are no chain stores here, just good old fashioned owner operated stores. A must visit for anyone who loves history, antiques or boutique little stores. It's easy to lose an hour or two wandering about in this... More

It's a lovely street for an amble - we loved the linen shop in particular (excellent value). They're the type of shops where you get talking to the owner, and sit for 20 minutes cuddling the friendly dog. Talking of which, there are a couple of excellent pet shops. We enjoyed coffee at the Maldon Cafe, which seemed popular with... More

Walking in the centre of small town Maldon likes winding back the history. Old houses and buildings, art deco styles, old style veranda, names of the shops, the quietness and and the feeling of an old township floating in the air. It is a small but unique town, the end destination of VGR train excursion, where passengers spend nearly 2... More

If you have ever wondered what Australia was like 150 years ago just take a leisurely stroll through this historic precinct. It is not at all difficult to picture yourself in the gold rush days
