It really doesn’t matter what is in the shops in Maldon - it’s the outside that counts. This street was heritage listed in 1966 because it is still almost entirely intact from its heyday in the latter half of the 19th century. Maldon was a...More

A beautiful little town with lots of gold rush history. The town looks like a film set - so authentically gold rush days, lots of buildings which have been left as they were over a century ago. We visited on a Monday and some shops...More

Stopped in early morning and nothing was open, even the garbage man told me to come back in a few hours as nothing usually starts happening until around 10am. Cute little main strip though and the buildings are lovely.

we visited midweek and it was very quiet. Many places not open and few visitors about. The Folk Festival is coming up next Saturday and the town will be pumping..but a bit ghost townish when we were there.

I love the little town of Maldon and its main street has got to be one of the best preserved examples of a 19th Century Mining Town that there is left around. We were in the main drag this morning and it was very quiet...More

Maldon is a delightful town that proudly displays and shows off its very strong links to the gold rush period of the 1850's on. The main street is an easy walk often under verandah covered shop fronts. The main street offers a number of cafe...More

The verandahs and classic shop fronts let your imagination step back in time. The shops are great to meander in and out of. The weather was lousy when we were there but there was enough protection that the time was not spoiled. My only negative...More
